Joey Reynolds Update

IIRC Joey Reynolds and Danny Neaverth are the same age, went to the same schools in South Buffalo--and Danny was born in 1939. Do the math.

Radio would be better if both of them were still on the air regularly somewhere....

Here, here!!! They’re wonderful each in their own right of course. But what they did together between their two shows back in the day on KB was just brilliant!

I recall a TV appearance back in the 80s on Channel 7 which celebrated the 25th anniversary of KB's format change, and some of the big names from the KB Radio of the '60s were there, live. Joey was asked about his thoughts on Buffalo. I believe his comment was, "there's nothing wrong with Buffalo...that couldn't be fixed with a 50-megaton ******." The station immediately went to a break.

And yet, ironically, Joey's sense of humor became inseparable from the city's sense of humor for some of us.

There's no modern-day equivalent to the old monster AM signals when it comes to giving cities a cultural mouthpiece. For many of us, our view of NY City was shaped by WABC, and Chicago's by WLS. I'm sure it was vice-versa as well.

Very true! They are what got me interested in radio. The 7pm change over was must hear radio! What Joey said was often the focus of our lunchtime conversation at school the next day.

I was lucky enough to find an uncut aircheck of KB with Danny, Joey and Bob Diamond from Feb 1964 on Napster. They were just as great as I remembered.
