JT's Ship has Sunk at Fox Sports Radio!

Just heard that Fox is shipping JT and his over-inflated opinion of himself to overnights to slip Bruno's show and star power into that slot.

Makes sense. JT is a hack and lucky to have a job. Bruno is a legend and now Fox can at least expose ESPN's lame shows for what they are. This will put the last dagger in Sporting News Radio's all but dead heart.

ESPN may have the games and some leverage, but they don't have the lineup that Premiere trots out with Bruno in the mix. JT's minions on this board should be happy. He keeps his job and moves to a time slot where he can take more calls and do what ever it is he does. I remember reading how Bruno was done on this forum back in January when CC forced JT on the owned stations when CC fired all of the local shows in those markets. Guess the cream always rises!

People who read these message boards know radio and the radio biz.
JT was voted best sports radio host in America
JT has bigger contract, more listeners, more twitter and myspace friends
JT has built a pretty good radio career

Fox is very happy to have JT the BRICK
I think JT is very happy too
 
I can see the spin... JT will say it's a great to be back in the time slot he got started...He will be here on Sunday night/Monday morning and be the 1st to REACT to the action on Sunday. He will go on to say it's great to be working with Tony Bruno and following him... Clearly a demotion. Should have kept Ben Maller.
 
I'm not sure I agree Bruno's morning show on FOX was a failure. He established the brand, which has since fallen on tough times.

Personally I never was a fan of Andrew Siscliano, but they did seem to work off each other well. However, when Sis was paired with Van Earl Wright it was oil and water and the network became unlistenable.

With Patrick, Bruno, and, yes, even JT the Brick, along with Jim Rome, they have plenty of trusted sports talk standards. This is a lineup that can compete with ESPN.

EXCEPT . . .

What kills FOX is they don't have the morning show to compete in the East Coast. I still don't see them having it. Bruno was 8-12 in the east and it worked to a certain extent, but you knew not being on 6-8 was a killer for them in a battle against Mike and Mike.

It is intersting radio message board ...everyone gets very excited even thought they know how radio works ... this topic only got 100 looks (many the same people) and 5 posts one of the was ME ... 2 where that other guy

JT was on the 50,000 watt station in Cincinnati last night, heard in 5 states
while many of them where JT fans ... all of them where listening because when they went up and down the dial they liked JT's show the best.

Some of thouse listeners would be the same folks who voted for JT as the best
Sports Radio Host in American ... of all the sports radio names we hear about
(and all hosts have there fans who think they are the best ...)
JT is the one who got the most votes ...

Mosts votes, biggest myspace, biggest twitter, biggest contract ....
and the most fun to talk about on message boards ... lol

soccer is the most popular sport in the world, and nascar is one of the most popular sports in this country. but it doesn't mean that either one is better than anyone else. i really wouldn't put much stock in fan polls. i know quite a few people brickhead has turned off just because he fails so hard at trying to be jim rome.

believe it or not, by dumping jt the brickhead, fsr has now cleared the way for me to actually turn on my radio and leave it on the same station all day long. jt when he first started his show and he said in the first segment "we are going to pound and pound football", i was done (i really don't like football). he screams at callers who don't scream on the radio like he does, he cuts off callers who disagree with him, he made it very hard for me to find anything on the radio to listen to after 9pm local.

tony bruno is a funny guy who won't try to force sports if nothing's going on. i loved the morning show while we still aired it (5 or 6 years ago our local station pre-empted him for two 2 hour local shows, one of which is still on the air) and i think the only way it really works is if andrew siciliano and krystal fernandez find some way to get on the show.

That may be a streaming issue with Dan Patrick's show itself, as it is still separately managed by Premiere. I'd think the same would apply to Bruno's show as well (WW1 usually discourages streaming of their programming), and either a PMS or Myers & Hartman re-feed might air in his place on their web stream.

The bad news for JT and his fans is he will essentially lose his Cincinnati affiliate. For decades, WCKY/1530 has been contracted to run Ralph Gordon Stair (a true wacko) and Roy Masters from 1a-5a.

Premiere does not manage Dan Patrick, he owns his show in tandem with The Content Factory. Premiere is just the network that delivers his show on air. You don't have to be an FSR affiliate to carry Dan. My understanding is that this is the same setup Tony has. He owns the show with TCF and now it will be delivered via Premiere/FSR, instead of through Westwood One. Tony is not working for Premiere/FSR.

Well we can hope but I won't believe it till it happens...
 
JT made it official just now. He claims he's "absolutely thrilled" to make the move to overnights and says his show will be even "bigger than before." Also made it known that Bruno's show would be added to Fox Sports as well, and both he and Looney paid him complements.

BTW, Big Ben Maller is filling in for Tony this week... he was on a scheduled vacation.
