Remember, this is the board that thinks JD is hip talk show stuff. Doc, Legend, KMGX, KCIR, Happy, and Mosky (Birdie) are JD's groupies. Nuff said.

Is it raining JD autographed photos where you are?

Ouch! But you have me confused with Crummy's Groupies!
Besides, you need a PD before you can hire a decent producer...and as far as I'm concerned, until someone relocates Smokey Rivers from the CC Media Hut, lousy shows like JD's will continue to saturate the 5-50.

Is is raining "Master Blogger" where you are?

Why is everyone using the marquee feature now?

Nurse Jeff and I find it a bit annoying.

When will the Master Blogger resume his blogs?

The Evil Joe Crummey is to hip, as JD is to Foghorn Leghorn!

I was only 17 in Los Angeles. You must have been 3. Thanks Patti I forgive you your transgressions
(listening habits) If you give us more of a chance I believe we could win you over.

What I mean by "radical" has nothing to do with "opinion" I believe our station has an opinion. Each host different from the other. You can't tell me that Ankarlo doesn't have an opinion. You can not say that Mac is an opinionless wimp. You may not agree with them but they express them selves as does Gaydos.
The other stations drive times are sucking up to the most radical "UBER CONSERVATIVES" in the audience. They feel as though constant immigration talk, anti Mexican talk will garner a huge audience. It failed to do that, Hence my remark about the death of radicalsim. All of us want a solution to the illegal immigrant problems. Not all of us want a door to door search, an auto by auto search, a roundup of every brown skinned person in the valley and an I D check. That's radical and that's what they suggest. I pointed out 25-54 wins for KTAR in both drive times. I also point out 12+ win in am drive and a statistical tie for first 12+ in afternoon drive and Mac has only been here a short time. That not only tells you that the audience is leaving J D but the audience has discovered, AND LIKES, Mac.

Dr Akbar, Nurse Jeff, yes we've waited a while for this to happen and there may be fall backs, ARB is a fickle lover. But the dye is cast. Rush will be Rush, Hannity will be Hannity, Savage will be Savage. They are a commanding force in America's listening habits. But locally KTAR will win the battle of local hosts.
And ultimately the war.

in all candor and with respect to those who communicate on this board.

Isn't there another "Jay Lawrence" that works in LA?

I remember hearing one on KFI, but he didn't have the "luvable" tones that the AZ Jay has.

It does sound like a generic radio name, or my name isn't Rick Jones! Or was that Bob Steele? Or Jeff Christie?

Soon, there will be armies of Jay Lawrences storming over the nation!

I knew you had a doppleganger out there somewhere. :D

Patti

two differenet computers. The board made me change one. You are wonderous.

Legend

Jay Lawrence's everywhere, all bright, articulate and funny. It's the doppleganger

Tears were streaming down Nurse Jeff's cheeks after hearing your prophecy. Then I told him to knock it off as the last thing the floorpan of a '76 Gremlin needs is more rust! Get a grip Luvable One (or is it Jayzerdoppleganger?)...this is radio and for most of us it's a easy way to scam a buck without doing manual work. KT'R should have overtaken KFWhyEye in their first year on FM if it hadn't been for relishing past glories of 6~twenty. Now for the most part it's on the right track, yet that pesky AM station still creates problems for the Master Blogger. You gotta give 5~Fifty credit for hangin' in as long as they have, 'cause when the day comes they leave the AM band, the light goes out on Amplitude Modulation in Phoenix forever. Even Sports Parking Lot 6~twenty will face the same fate as some also ran big stick FM will become the first sports parking lot modulated by frequency. El Rushbo, Hannity & Savage keep AM alive, but eventually they'll migrate to FM. And who knows, maybe one day the CCU suits will take the advise Nurse Jeff and I offered two years ago this summer...move to 95~Five and make life difficult for TMISU!

Yeah, but if there are two, one has to be evil. There was an evil Gilligan, an Evil Mr. Howell, and Mary Ann became an even more evil Ginger.

I stopped at 8 am you went to 9 on the am drive numbers. You counted Barry. I didn't.

Legend

There is no evil. Kind, gentle, Luvable, an occasional moment of cynicism but never evil.

And now the Legendary Dr. and his stalwart accomplice Nurse Jeff.

It is good that you agreed on the fact that there has been progress, perhaps not as fast as you believe possible but progress nonetheless. I don't think timetables are success's determining factors. All of us are some form of program director/consultant. You might have done it differently, you might have made changes more quickly. your results would have been pretty much the same as what you are seeing now.

There's a column in this past Sunday's Washington Post, Radio Days. It's written by Chris Core as he leaves a station after many years. The column talks about the many changes in his career and broadcasting generally. I shan't reprint it here but it's interesting. I only point it up because
KTAR and it's parent compnay, Bonneville, take long term views as opposed to what you and others have suggested and what is the modus operenda of many huge broadcast companies.

KTAR fm Is getting where it wants to be. You'll be here to see it and feel it. We have never mentioned cume numbers but they are an important part of the strength of KTAR fm, The cume is huge. Translate the cume to quarter hours, just listening a little longer, and you'll be trading the gremlin for an older 3 wheeler. I can see the nurse riding on top in back heading out for a weekend at Saguaro Lake.

620 is so much fun for a sports nut that even going to fm with some other sports station would have NO effect at all unless they hired the morning and afternoon guys.

And the big three on fm, it wouldn't matter, how much better can they do?

So that's it. Lengthy but pithy

With respect

Jay

Looking forward to the radio mystery meat combo of Joe Arpaio and Andrew Thomas filling in for Jacobs on Friday....

Legend City.... I know you're an Arpaio fan... Will you be tuned in...?

What a combo - the Master Blogger and the Master Shiller on the same Number #One #Two News & Talk station!

How interesting you left out the 9am ratings as they're only one fourth of AMD! (any other things you'd like to confess at this time?) Yes KT'R has a large cume, just as it did on 6~twenty. Too bad the long line of PDs could never figure out why so many people sampled, but didn't want to stay! No, ratings would have been better today if the Master Blogger hadn't squandered the first year with feeble Toaster Talk, news blocks in PMD and Paul Harvey News. Yes indeedy, Sports Parking Lots on AM are vulnerable to upstarts on FM. And the Big Three on FM? They'd be even bigger with the greater exposure FM allows.

No way Nurse Jeff and I'll part with the Gremlin! We need reliable transportation to Bill Johnson's for that Humble Pie you've offered!

Arpaio and Thomas together?

Dumber and dumberer?

I'd boil the studio after their visit.

I listened to Hendrie last night and recoiled in horror as he was forced to do one of those terrible "Tahiti Villiage" free Las Vegas commercials. They used to use the talentless Tanya Roberts, now they use the very talentless Roseann Barr.

What is so awful is that its painfully obvious that Roseann cut her half of the ad, and Phil was reading off a script to attempt to make it look like a contemperaneous conversation.

But, I guess that what you get when you quit a good show and start one that is not so good.

AM Drive is 6-10, and PM drive is 3 to 7 PM. That's why Arbitron calls them that way.
