KAAM Files to Go Silent

How is KAAM and KAMM together in this? Did I miss a filing staying they were looking to move on to the same tower together?
Since KAMM is also looking for a new transmitter site there had been some speculation about 770 and 1540 forming two legs of a triplex with an existing AM. I had wondered if there were any engineering issues with a diplex if one station is a second harmonic of the other (1540=2x770)…although perhaps that makes filtering and rejection circuits simpler.

Just a wild guess, but I would think KTNO 620 is the diplex partner for KCBI 770.

Maybe so. 700 or 990 might make sense too.

990's site is far enough away from any economic development it might be safer for the future of AM's life.

620's is closer in and there is more development in the general area. Also, Salem will sell anything.

😳😲😞

Is it even on the air? It's supposedly running 100 watts and covering a couple of streets in University Park.
I’ve heard it along Loop 12 in north Dallas. Poor signal, basically a glorified TIS/HAR operation.

990 was my second thought after 620. However the 700 facility is likely too close in frequency to 770 to be workable in a diplex; engineering headache and badly crunched bandwidth. The closest diplex frequency spacing I can think of is the 670/780 arrangement of WSCR and WBBM in Chicago.

1600/1680 in orlando share a tower site and im pretty sure at some when 1600 WAS directional, they shared a tower.

KBCI 770 is apparently back on the air today via a STA filed at the FCC: https://enterpriseefiling.fcc.gov/d...&id=25076f919f23c48f019f23fe4196002a&goBack=N.

I can't hear it, but it could be because it is only running 100 watts. Based on the coordinates, it looks like temporary transmitter is located near Sherrill Park in Richardson.
its on the cell tower next to 1521 N Glenville Dr in Richardson labeled as a business caleld Alden Short, Inc.

KKGM has a very similar antenna set up

Thanks for clarifying. I had put in the coordinates on the application in Google and it gave me Sherrill Park.

coordinates can always be a bit off, when when it said a flared skirt antenna on a monopole, i was like.. gotta be a cell tower or similar

If you click the KKGM Coordinates on R-L you get areal good view of their set up. The yagi low down is their translator licensed for 0.5 watts at 33 feet

I get pretty good reception in Plano and down to downtown Dallas

100 watts into a nearly 100 foot antenna thats grounded and has halfway decent audio processing will do 10 miles in every direction, or so

We've got 10 watts on 1210 into a 30 some odd foot antenna with a poor ground (cuse its all we can legitimately do) and it doesnt even get two miles on a truck radio

The 770 frequency on the lower end of the AM band helps.

Nobody has mentioned the programming. Is it the teaching and preaching found on 90.9 HD-2? I had presumed that would be the ultimate format once the diplex is built.
The before the hour promos identify itself as "KCBI Teaching Network", which is what airs on the HD2. The legal ID is part of a string that includes KCBI-FM HD2.

KCBI 770 is running the same programming as KCBI-FM-HD2 90.9HD2, but KCBI-FM-HD2 is about 60 seconds delayed from the audio on 770.

Legal ID is updated as KCBI Garland, KCBI-FM-HD2 Dallas, KZBI-HD2 Marlin.
