KBIG. Is the clock ticking down?

yep.same st john.i still would have liked groove radio.im just burned out on this format.as for the jocks,i wonder if they will bring some of them back or fresh?

CC L.A. VP Michael Martin says that “MY is designed to sit right in the middle of STAR 98.7 and 103.5 KOST, playing a great mix of music styles and eras" according to the article on Radio and Records. Maybe STAR won't be changing anytime soon.

Maybe they'll be jockless for awhile to highlight the new music mix then when changes are made at Star they move over some of the jocks they want to keep.

Would CC really flip two radio stations in the same market within a matter of weeks, and especially in a market this large and important to their bottom line?
KBIG hasn't really "flipped". Just a refocus on mainstream AC. No more disco. This would definately signal a change to come for Star.

Welcome to *FRESH*, everyone.

*I was wrong about Star making the tweak.* It was KBIG that made the flip.

The strange thing about this is that I was listening to Charlie Tuna (via internet), and I thought that the station sounded a lot like WKTU (WNEW's competition) last January.

CBS did the same thing on January 2, 2007, when they flipped WNEW FM - MIX 1027, a Classic Dance station, to FRESH. CC will probably likewise get union scale DJs, who basically will be liner card readers, and barely be on air.

You posters who see a big similarity between My FM and Star are correct. That's why I thought Star would be the station CC would change to Fresh. Much of the same music on WWFS is played on Star.

Credit goes to calguy for his call on this one, and also his comment concerning "Fresh under another name."

I don't think Star will remain untouched for long.

i eraced kbig from all of my presets.time to start movin.it sucks not hearing kari steel and the noon time disco workout.good bye kbig.long live k-big!!!!!!

KYSR and My are different.

If you look at Star's music in the 10am hour, you'd maybe see three songs overlap: Daughtry, Maroon 5, and Fergie. My is only playing big proven hits...

ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS Dirty Little Secret 2005 R
JOHN MAYER Gravity 2006 R
FRAY All At Once 2005 C
VIOLENT FEMMES Add It Up 1983 G
FERGIE Big Girls Don't Cry (Personal) 2006 C
KILLERS Read My Mind 2006 R
K.T. TUNSTALL Black Horse & The Cherry Tree 2005 R
DAUGHTRY It's Not Over 2006 R
BON JOVI Lost Highway 2007 C
MAROON 5 Makes Me Wonder 2007 C
TORI AMOS Cornflake Girl 1994 G
INCUBUS Dig

If you want your Dance fix I can help you out. I have a site where I list all the terrstrial Dance webcasters from around the world, as well as select net-only stations:

Would be nice to see Movin add some more Dance titles to its playlist.

As for Star 98.7, I still wouldn't rule out the station evolving its Rock sound to a more male-friendly mode.
Not likely at Movin. They've added more Hot titles since lil Ricci came in. Still the markets loser FM.

My sounds much more focused than KBIG. KBIG was a mess. My is the perfect station for the people meter. No doubt it will be more of a success than KBIG come the new year.

Absolutely. Star sounded more focused compared to the old BIG, but now with KBIG cleaned up, Star sounds all over the road.

i still feel that we got jipped.this my format was here in san diego for a bit.it flopped.they could have done something else with such a powerful transmitter.

No, it didn't flop. They merely traded it for the abandoned Star identity, once the old Star became Jack. My was winning vs. the old Star, but it was a way to keep someone else from grabbing the name.

I believe Movin is influenced by the success of Magic 92.5 San Diego, one of the higher ranked stations in the market (6th overall).

Guess what other station is doing really well in San Diego - KMYI Star 94.1, which sounds just like the new My 104.3:

If Movin was infulenced by Magic 92.5 in San Diego then explain why its ratings going south? It's now BELOW a 1 share in the trend that came out today. Look at the loads of money Emmis as thrown at this station. Look at all the publicity it has received. A station that is supposed to target Hispanic females in a market where Hispanics make up more than 40% of the population. It is the biggest FAILURE of any station in the history of Los Angeles radio. Period.

Movin's musical changes are very recent, as in the past week or two. So you won't see the Magic 92.5 effect for another book or two.
That coupled with the new sound of KBIG might help out Movin's ratings.
Personally I think Movin should have taken a more contemporary-friendly approach rather then a more retro one, but we'll see how it pans out.

Failure. It's been adding Hot titles since lil Ricci got in. He's an idiot no help there. They sound closer to Hot than ever before and Hot was down. Looks like a winner to me!

Emmis doesn't have a clue. The sooner Emmis leaves the market the better. I agree with Emmis' shareholders, sell off the company piecemeal and give the shareholders the value they deserve. This company needs to go out of business.
