BJordan, I've been a fan of BEPs since they did that song with Macy Gray called "Request + Line". Yeah, BEPs have been around since the late 1990s, but they weren't considered relevant to this conversation until 2003 when Fergie joined the group and they went more pop.
I remember "Request+Line" featuring Macy Gray from 2001 that was their last hip hop song. They went more pop after they dropped the "Elephunk" album in the summer of 2003.

Looks as if ET flopped big time on V103. It disappeared way faster than Ciara's "Gimme dat". I notice "super bass" by Nicki Minaj seems to "come and go", if that makes sense...
Exactly Katy Perry's ET doesn't belong on a urban station and neither does Adele. Power

106 in L.A. is getting it together though. IMHO it doesn't make sense to play Katy Perry in rotation with Keyshia Cole's Take Me Away, Big Sean's My Last and Chris Brown's Look At Me
Now
Yikes . WVEE V-103 need to get their Shhh together. Pardon my french y'all. They daypart the station well. During the Urban AC esque programing nothing but R&B. After 6 Hip Hop & R&B and evening is their quiet storm which I love. I love their song selection during the slow jam show I.E. Kem's Love Calls, Jaheim's Anything, Jesse Powell's You, Joe's All The Things and Jon B.'s I Do(Whatcha Say Boo) Those are some beautiful songs.

BTW Katy Perry's ET has flopped big time on Power 106 in Los Angeles. That's a good thing because Power 106 represents hip hop not mainstream pop.

Adele is more of a blue-eyed soul artist than pop, so I don't see a problem with them spinning her songs. Also V-103 have a long track history of adding crossover records to their playlist going all the way back to the late 1990s.
Blue Eyed soul traces back to 1980's. Adele's Rolling In The Deep has more of a 70's Soul feel. Jon B.'s They Don't Know is more soulful and KKBT 92.3 The Beat in Los Angeles spun in Power Rotation in 1997-98 along with Are U Still Down Featuring 2Pac. Blue Eyed soul's history traces back to the days of Hall & Oats & Michael Mc.Donald. Even in the 1980's Blue eyed soul including Hall & Oats & Michael Mc. Donald were well received on urban contemporary radio. Then in the 1990's Jon B. hits the scene and he is well received on urban contemporary radio also. Don't forget Remy Shand's Take A Message from 2002. The Remy Shand record was well received on Urban AC 102.3 KJLH in 2002 before Robin Thickie hit the scene. These blue eyed soul artist sound like "Brothas & Sistahs". I'm talking Robin Thickie, Jon B., Adele and Remy Shand.

Actually, blue-eyed soul goes back to the 1960s to Philadelphia with WDAS to be exact.

Thanks for correcting me. Adele isn't out of place at KJLH Los Angeles, WVEE Atlanta and KMEL in San Fransico. You have to really listen to Rolling In The Deep feel the soulfulness.

I don't know if this is a true B-Side cut or early add to urban and rhythmic radio, but Adele's song "He Won't Go" has been added to the playlist. It's interesting to see another 'atypical' choice in the rotation on V-103. I figured this song would be on Adult Contemporary, but I like it.

V-103 played "He Won't Go" yesterday and today according to their playlist on Tune In Radio. I might check it out. BTW They played Remy Shand's Take A Message last night during "The Quiet Program. Forgive me bringing up Remy Shand's Take A Message but great song. It was a top 10 hit on KJLH in 2001-02. I downloaded Remy Shand's Take A Message on my iPhone and still sounds great after 9 years. Remy's vocals are so chilling, that's why I'm so addicted to that song.

It's called "the Quiet Storm", but I understand.

I was in a rush to type sorry about that. It's is been so long since we've had a full service urban contemporary in Los Angeles. I'm glad you like Remy Shand's Take A Messege as much as I do. It's under rated song but it still sounds new.

Interesting, Adele has 15 spins on V103 this week. That's alot for V103. I'm listening to this song, and it definitely fits an R&B playlist.

That's good for her. I'm starting too except the fact that she is well received on R&B radio.
