Kiss 105.7 is dead

as I'm writing this..Kiss 105.7 is gone..they now sound top 40ish like g105....I don't know if they are stunting or not...audio coming soon...all the imaging is saying is "the new 105-7

If a station flips and no one cares, does it matter?

Having said that, Dick Broadcasting certainly has quite the target on it's back these days, eh?

So, Kraddick or Valentine in mornings? Or Elvis Duran? And how quickly b4 Seacrest is on that bad boy?

Its not a stunt.....its real according to those inside the panic walls. The target is KZL.

yep...my insider informed me of the same thing...flip was made at 5pm today staff found out 10 min before the actual switch

Don't forget Jackson Blue's nightshow.

Seacrest's show is now four hours. Seacrest to afternoons, Blue to evenings, track middays, stick on a morning show.

... You've got a station!

This is a new "premium choice" CHR from Clear Channel. Logs are coming from out of town. Seacrest for sure. Jackson Blue... probably. Michelle Taylor might be tracking middays. And as for mornings... anybody ever heard of Bob & The Showgram? ;)

I see ZERO rock product (like "Second Chance" by Shinedown, which is getting a lot of play on some of the CC CHR stations) and they are playing "Boom Boom Pow" and "If You Seek Amy" about every 80 minutes.

Hey, at least they got 10 minutes notice! Just enough time to clean out their desks while security guards watch over them so they don't steal any CC pens!!! :D

"Hmmmmm! Could it be that Clear Channel and Entercom will have a race to battle WKZL. That's my guess. Someone needs to go that route. WKZL is walking away with way too much $$ in the market without any real competition."

I'm claiming bragging rights! I've been saying this was going to happen for a while now, along with some others on this board. It was the obvious hole in the market. CC will have a battle on their hands. WKZL never takes these things lying down! There's also some irony in the fact they will be called Hits something, after Hitz 94.1 took the Magic moniker.

"CC has always been the consolidation king. Why would anyone doubt that they'll have standard formats. They may not do it on their really successful stations, but certainly on ALL the second tier stations. I don't doubt it for a nano-second.
Get ready for their Kiss station to change soon. I'm predicting they'll go against KZL."

Another prediction I made on May 12th from the "100.3 The New Buzz" thread. No insider info - just logic.

I doubt they would use the showgram, bob has even said on the air that "we are a liability [to clear channel]" although this would get them into western parts of NC..parts of northern charlotte...etc...they will probrably used some piped in morning show from lord knows where

..question now...who's gonna pick up steve harvey and micheal baisden??

If they don't use Bob, then Elvis is the next logical choice. But I really think that Bob Dumas just makes too much sense here. Even though I worked at PAI, and still know a lot of people in the building, this is just my (semi-)educated guess... NO insider info. Just spit ballin'.

Bob has been talking for years about how he'd love to be on in Greensboro. He is already a known commidity in the Triad (especially in Greensboro). And ever since the tower move to Apex, G105 is almost unlistenable, except on the extreme eastern side of Guilford. Liability or not... Bob makes CC $$$. And even if the show was a piece of crap (which it is not), as long as it makes cash, that is all that matters to CC... especially now, with their debt load.

The powers are pretty tight... I've listened sporadically, and I've already heard "If You Seek Amy" three times. 80 minutes is not the tightest it could be though. I've seen stations spin powers every 65 to 75 minutes. That's what CHR is though... play the hits. This station is MUCH more rhythmic based than other CHR's within CC. "You Found Me" has been the only pop/rock based song I have heard. EDIT: After a quick scan on yes.com it looks like there are a couple of other pop songs. Kelly, AAM, Jesse McCartney.... but that is it. This is VERY rhythmic.

Don't forget Ace and TJ out of Charlotte might come on this new station. Their show is currently airing on CC owned 103.7 the Q Birmingham and used to be on WKXJ Chattanooga before it flipped formats.

I can't find the other CC stations taking the same feed as WMKS, but I did discover that WRVQ in Richmond and WZKF in Louisville are both taking the same CC Premium roast BS CHR feed.

And speaking of radio geeks, CC GSO has made TWO big format flips (one could say that 100.3 was a "tweak" I suppose) and there is ZERO buzz (I know, I know) among listeners in the Triad about ANY of it. Radio geeks like us noticed it, but the listening public has NO IDEA. Will they market the new buzz and/or the new all-hit 105.7? Anything? Teevee? Even cross-promotion on other CC stations (it ain't unheard of)? Tweets are nice, but ya gotta do SOMETHING to get the word out.

That's a possibility as well. They are on CC owned WNOK in Columbia as well. Ace and TJ own the show outright, so CBS doesn't make money off the deal.
