Woke up bright and early at the crack of 11:30 this morning. So, bright-tailed and bushy-eyed and armed now with a 64-ounce vat of 1000% Colombian coffee, some additional notes, if I may.
.... I didn't hear any sweep tones at all off the R-S Travel Portable. They were somewhat piercing and very vivid off the Montana SDR, but weren't there at all on the little battery radio.
.... Clearest 'genuine' presence of all were those 800 cycle code IDs. I'd've thought that the sweep tones would be my best chance off the radio -- they were best for WNJO's TEST -- but not this time.
.... :43 into the pursuit, I heard a loud, thunderous song on the SDR and tried to // it downstairs to no avail. Sounded like 1967 heavy metal. Was that KJJR?
.... Who ran that January 8th 1944 newscast ? Was that KRVN ? That was off the SDR only, too.
.... Around 3:59 (the last moments here), there was some bombastic tune played. Perhaps it was the end of the TEST? It certainly wasn't from the East Coast WCBS. (WCBS made things a bit easier than normal, since they were all talk and news with a lot of spaces).
.... Off the SDR, there was a notable echo / delay during the 3AM newscast. Who were they?
.... The start of the TEST was much better here ... more readable than the end was. But it sounded to me as though KJJR either stopped things early or cx dteriorated the last half hour. I was only listening at that point to the little portable.
.... It'd be swell if there were a program log of the event. Such might be a help to many.
One can only nod in approval with the sentiments of TVNut and the rest. Gracieux, TEST organizers! I think I may have passed this exam, hi. I did study for it with crib notes from the Morse Code chart.
