KJLH is so unfocused right now.

True if you think about it there isnt really a station that caters to all Hip Hop unless you got satallite radio. Hot 107 in Memphis is the only one I can think of but that was years ago. If Im not mistaken now its label a Rythnmic station.

@WDB 2003 Maybe I should travel more often. Listen to other radio stations in the U.S. I've been to NY in 2009 for my 16th B-Day but didn't get a chance to Hot 97, Power 105 or 107.5 WBLS or 98.7 Kiss FM. I do listen on my computer a great of how L.A. used to be in the 90's and Early 2000's during The Beat Vs Power 106 Era. In NYC it's Hot 97 Vs Power 105.

Well its not big deal but radio stations all over the country are going through changes with the economy. In Dallas KRNB and KKDA are having programming issues and KSOC sounds dull. The Beat sounds okay. Our stations have changed as well and the PD's today have to answer to a higher demand. The only station that I can think of that sounds like Los Angeles is the Wave's current PD Jhani Kaye. The Wave sounds like the old KOST to me. KOST use to play motown songs years ago but you hardly hear them.

Oh don't get me started on The Wave. I hardly hear a smooth jazz song anymore. I'm hearing that Mary J Blige song called Be Without You and One Rupublic's Apologize.SMH. KTWV and KJLH are unfocused stations. KTWV YOU"RE SCARING ME...KJLH YOU'RE SCARING ME... KPWR YOU'RE ME...

Smooth Jazz is dead and its been dead for years. We lost our station KCIY for Counrty WDAF years ago back home. KTWV is doing a better job with the Smooth AC format than Allen Keplers BA netowrk

KTWV seems to be closer to urban/ac overnites. Can't take the 2 ladies together in the morning. Pretty boring, with loads of forced, uninteresting content. Kathie Lee and Hoda style. Talaya is still superb in middays, afternoon drive sounds good, but scripted, evenings sound more like the old Wave...Excellent flow. The transition from smooth jazz, to more of a soft ac is an attempt to fill the small void left open by Kost moving in a more hot ac direction. Since Brian Burns left, they have very little male presence on air. Only girly men, with light pipes. Beyond all that, Jhani Kaye is a brilliant radio strategist, and has a keen perception of the market. It's still a work in progress. Stay tuned.

I would never listen to 94.7 The Wave. I don't want to sit up and listen no elevator music all day not my scene. I'm in the 16-34 crowd. So I listen to KDAY, 102.3 KJLH and Power 106 for some upbeat music.

Would KJLH play My Neck, My Back( Lick It) By Khia. A little vulgar but a hot song fo real. I remember when Power 106 and The Beat used to play that song out in 2002.
you're right no radio station should be playing that song. That song had a nice beat though. Khia is so black and ugly now. She's in jail now and those ladies gone get her tonight. Singing about her neck and her back lick her p***y and her crack Nasty. Who knows where Khia has been. Ugly as heck.smh.

Lol your funny :)

I actually Pat Prescott one time at the Wavefest and when I tried to intern very nice lady. Its nice to see Kim back on the radio. This isnt the first time KTWV had two women in the morning slot but the station is still in progress. Its always had decent numbers and the music selection is still soft and relaxing. But as time goes on it could change directions. Urban AC would be nice but more than likely AC will probally be its future.

You're probably right. It won't be Urban AC, but look for a bit more soft R&B, since there's a giant void in this market, and KTWV had quite a sizable Urban listenership as a smooth jazz outlet. BTW, Pat Prescott is a very nice lady and a true radio professional. I just don't care for the people they team her with.

I doubt they will be going anywhere and Im pretty sure they care less about ratings. Sales and marketing is their goal. I figured if I ever wanted to get into the industry on air would be my choice but with all the VT and production cuts I rather work behind the scenes.

Yep Smooth Jazz is dead but still alive in San Dieago. KIFM is so far the only station running the format. KMYT 94.5 in Temucla is running Smooth Jazz also. KTWV has adapted to times and some days it sounds good. Smooth AC is working for them WLFM in Chicago runs the Smooth AC network but its horrible. Since when is Lady GaGa Smooth? LOL ::)

KTWV was boring years ago it's boring now and ten years it'll still be boring.

Of course its a adult station so its not gonna appeal to you espically back in the 90's at your young age. It's way more focused than KJLH and makes more money. And its live and local 24/7. Well except for mornings and nights on sunday
