KKSF joining a band?

SFStatic said:
2. I bet CC brings Greg up from the Fox for a live morning show and that the rest of the Band is tracked from outside the market.
But with the Fox biting the dust, I wonder if the rest of the Fox Jocks will land at 103.7?

In a related news item, WNUA-Chicago, a station programming similar to KKSF, just went Spanish today (Friday).

I've heard it said that "Smooth Jazz" / NAC formats have it hard in the PPM world because the P-1 listeners are least likely to want to carry those devices around. Similarly, the P-1's for dance music, but for different reasons.

There maybe others, but I know of 3 other Smooth Jazz stations in Northern California that seems to be doing well, KJZY in Santa Rosa, KRVR in Modesto and KSSJ in Sacramento.

I don't think any of those markets are PPM yet... some will probably not ever be. In diary-rating land they'll do fine.

KKSF’s “Smooth Jazz” format was originally called “New Age” when it first hit the air under the direction of Steve Feinstein.

I believe the term "smooth jazz" came from a focus group. It was the response when the group was asked to come up with a descriptive term for the music.

Those of us who love real jazz have been gagging on the term ever since.

Fresno lost SMOOTH JAZZ KSJN 105.5 for News/Talk about 3 weeks ago.

On the repackaged KKSF.com, it's noted that the music (from the Smooth Jazz Network) has been moved to 98.1 Kiss-FM's HD-2 sidebar, and...

One more Program note: beginning this Sunday June 8th, (and every Sunday) from 8am to 10am you can listen to "Smooth Jazz Weekend" on 98.1 KISS FM. (regular FM radio) ... No, this is not supposed to be a replacement for KKSF, just a way to keep Smooth Jazz on the airwaves, and to support the music and artists in the Bay Area.

Cue up Aerosmith's "Dream On"...

Can somebody call Las Vegas and get me the latest odds on Clear Channel firing Laurie Roberts from 98.5 K-Fox in San Jose, then re-hiring her (at San Francisco money) for 103.7 The Band?

Isn't K-Fox going away? Sooner than later? Why not move the K-Fox jocks up to SF and simulcast the Band on both frequencies until the KUFX sale goes thru? Surely they're gonna hold on to Greg Kihn, in any case? Or is that scenario too logical to make sense to the suits at CC?

"Noventa y Ocho Punto Cinco, K-Zorro... La Experiencia de Rock Clásico!" ;D

It's been nearly a month since the mid-afternoon switch of formats, yet on 5th near Jefferson in
Oakland, enroute to the Posey Tube into Alameda, I noticed a Clear Channel Billboard that says,
"Relax. KKSF 103.7" - aka their "Smooth Jazz" billboard... ::)

Has anyone else had sightems of late for the "KKSF Smooth Jazz" billboards elsewhere?

Yes. Since the economy's been tough, CC Outdoor has tended to just leave boards as is until they sell them to another client. Just shows you that they don't have clients beating the doors down right now.

Are you tired of "The band"? I know I am. Once again it's the same old
"Classic Rock" format no matter what they call it! I still give it till the end of the year at best!

My dream jock line-up on 103.7 The Band (on second thought)

Here is my dream jock line-up on 103.7 The Band (on second thought)
