KLCK 98.9 Turning to FM Sports

The Ocean wouldn't make a lot of sense here, but what about The Sound? It wouls kind of have the double meaning, referring not only to the sound of music but Puget Sound.

That would be nice. Used to be on 96.9 KGY "Cool Classics & Hot Hits" before they went KYYO/"KAYO" Country...

KUPS 90.1 Tacoma uses "The Sound" as it's moniker. And I think 107.7 HD-2 does as well. It's been awhile since I've tuned into that.

The latest stunting is great. Nothing but Jubal (from sister Movin) Phone Taps. Wonder how long all of this stunting will be going on, but I'm sure loving it.

OK....I think they've evacuated just about every potential listener beside the freaks on these radio boards.

This may mean something:

-There COULD be Robin & Maynard in the morning?
-There COULD finally be all "Kokomo" radio in Seattle?

If you're interested, stay tuned. Wake me when it's over. Yawn.

Legal ID says they will be announcing The Future at noon Wednesday. So there's that.

cuz God knows that frequency has given us the Pasture on more than one occasion.

Seriously, though...Click did one thing I thought was really smart. Dropped back-announce of each song as a produced "quick blurb" at the tail of each track and it was very effective way of making sure that housekeeping was covered and frees up the talent to talk about other stuff. Very simple and very creative at the same time.

Then you don't understand the concept or purpose of stunting.

It's a stunt when it's 48 hours or less. It's pointless beyond that. There are other things to listen to.

Maybe on this board... but I'm sure if I walked around my office right now and asked people if they're aware of what's happening on 98.9, I'd be hard pressed to find anyone. And probably even fewer who understand the relevance of stunting. Is stunting in the current era of radio comparable to a tree falling alone in the forest?

I would imagine that the majority of people (perhaps a small group based on ratings) who had Click as a preset simply changed it to something else the first time they heard the show tunes (or whatever).

Why not just do a hard cut-over to the new format?

Because they are trying to make noise, trying to be noticed, trying to get people to talk about the station. They are doing this for several days because not everybody listens to a radio station every single day, and not nearly as intently as some on this board.

Don't worry, the stunting will soon be over and everyone can resume crapping on whatever format they put on the station.

If they wanted to generate interest in the frequency, they should've gone the novelty and comedy song route. Isn't stunting done to make listeners stop and take notice? Playing virtually what other stations play (except for the moldy oldies) is nothing special. Of course the "experts" will come down on me for saying this, but I don't care.

Marc Kaye, we understand the point of stunting. But if you really want to be noticed by someone scanning the dial, play something that no one else is playing. This is what happened when KMGI became KNDD (novelty songs), or when KXRX became KYCW (computer count up/down). There was a lot of water cooler talk back then...there's been nothing with KLCK (we're the only ones...doesn't that say something to you?). (Maybe 98.90 Mhz is the new cursed frequency.)

Second guessing stunt programming, this board never disappoints.

Please prove the three assertions you made.

Then I guess we found another line of your thinking that is out of touch with reality.

I find it interesting that when anyone doesn't agree with you, they're not in reality. Who put you in that position? (Must be self appointed.) Listeners have the right to say what they don't like or that radio/media in general is providing them what they want. Has it ever occurred to you that without listeners, you would not have a job and/or career? Your arrogance is beyond 'reality'.
