Maybe they could be thinking of bringing back "the Armadillo" a KVET like format? Mix of Texas country, classic country and new country? But then again that will go against Y 100. :-\

My guess is 106.7 will be aiming young again but not as a 24/7 Hip Hop station.

Anyhow, I see one of the formats coming to SA- Alternative Rock, 90's, Dance or Top 40 Rhythmic with a Dance lean. I just don't see Classic Hits or Country as one of the options for Cox Radio. IMO, either format would likely take away listeners from their sister stations.

David...you know a lot about programming....I am hearing more def stories they are going classic rock with the river thing.

I think this is a mistake with KONO and KISS taking hits plus Magic. There are also ZEP and Jack in this arena.

Sounds more like a sales oriented move than a programming pick.

Cox wants to sell KISS/RIVER combo buys to the folks buying airtime from KZEP.

Dicey move ratings wise. Plus ZEP has the name recognition, and ZEP listeners will need a really good reason to switch to a station that (and I have forgiven them in the past for this) changes formats like underwear.

Bandaid fix by Cox.
