In this hypothetical Dallas scenario, I would imagine you move Magic to 93.3, which covers the right parts of the metro for the format, and then spin off 94.5. You could have a debate on if 96.7 or 94.5 is better, but in my listening the Wise country rimshots seem to do somewhat better than the Grayson County ones in most of the metro despite what the contour maps show.Interesting speculation. A combination with Cumulus would make a nice Houston cluster still with room for one more FM. In DFW they'd have to spin off one FM, probably after doing some format shuffling.
Exactly. A classic Hip Hop station that focused on the Texas/Southern rap scene of the 2000s would have been the logical move. Pairing that with KBXX would have given you the opportunity to strangle KQBT out of existence.F A I L in 18 months they will be switching the format again
They should have just kept the classic rap format and just tweaked it so it was not 70% New York artist
This is something I would definitely listen toA classic Hip Hop station that focused on the Texas/Southern rap scene of the 2000s would have been the logical move.

I would play rap from like 1987 to 2002 75% would be Southern and West coast artist.
This is definitely an easier cross-sell with KBXX, after giving both stations a listen today, a lot of the spots being run for bad credit car dealerships and injury lawyers would be very much out of place on Radio Now...
Why would KRBE, a top 5 station 18-34, make any changes due to the demise of a station at the back of the pack?I wonder if KRBE will play less older stuff now with Radio Now gone, cause that was one advantage RN had. It was a pure CHR/Top 40 since KRBE seems like a hybrid Hot AC/CHR at times.
As an avid KRBE listener I can actually tell you that they've added MORE older stuff since KROI flipped. In fact, I noticed it on the very day that the KROI change happened. My guess is that maybe they are aiming their playlist slightly more in the direction of KHMX, since they are their only real competition now.I’m hearing now that this is now affecting for KRBE, they’re just changed their slogan to “Houston’s ONLY Hit music station”.

I’m guessing those Gen X/older millennials are their target right now.As an avid KRBE listener I can actually tell you that they've added MORE older stuff since KROI flipped. Might be time for KRBE to revisit that logo of theirs too. Is that supposed to be a spinning CD?!I’m guessing those Gen X/older millennials are their target right now.
Yet KRBE now changed their slogan to “Houston’s ONLY Hit Music Station” that slogan deserves an asterisk then.
It may well have been that in the past, but now it is just a square on a segmented circle or oval. The "spin" effect is gone.Might be time for KRBE to resist that logo of theirs too. Is that supposed to be a spinning CD?!
They are still using "Houston's #1 hit music station" on air, despite what the Wikipedia article (that also claims Gallery Furniture owns the station, for some reason) says.I’m hearing now that this is now affecting for KRBE, they’re just changed their slogan to “Houston’s ONLY Hit music station”.
I don't think KRBE is targeting 35-54. Remember Gen X is now between the ages of 41 and 56.I’m guessing those Gen X/older millennials are their target right now.
I have a feeling you won’t hear their new slogan yet, probably next month or two. They are still using "Houston's #1 hit music station" on air, despite what the Wikipedia article (that also claims Gallery Furniture owns the station, for some reason) says.
