Using a multi-book average and not including Christmas-season influenced December, KINK is 7th in teens and 15th in 18-24 and even 14th in 18-49. It is 6th in 35-64.
KPNT is 14th in teens.
I was only doing a single month not a multi-book average. There is always more data than I can get my hands on. Thanks for the fuller figures.
If KROQ does segue over to Active Rock; it will be interesting to see the path they follow. Will it be an Active/Alternative hybrid with Grunge, Nu Metal and Post Grunge library material? Does the gold include Metallica, Guns N’ Roses?
KUPD has been successful with 16 currents and the rest library material. KUPD also plays some AC/DC, Scorpions and Twisted Sister. Granted Phoenix and Los Angeles are different markets.
Active Rock has produced better music over the past couple of years, but it is more of a niche than Alternative. Los Angeles hasn’t had Active Rock since KLOS dipped their toes in it circa 1995. They moved away from it quickly. KNAC and Pirate Radio tried it in some form as well.
If they go that route, I hope it works.
I suspect they're going to go Active/Alternative hybrid - but KPNT doesn't go as heavy on the Grunge, nu-metal, and post-grunge library material as you might think.
Here's what KPNT has spun today from noon-approximately now, all times Central:
12:07: Stabbing Westward - "What Do I Have To Do"
12:11: Our Lady Peace - "Superman's Dead"
12:15: Arctic Monkeys - "I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor"
12:18: Nirvana - "Come As You Are"
12:22: The Lumineers - "BRIGHTSIDE"
12:25: Anberlin - "Feel Good Drag"
12:33: Green Day - "When I Come Around"
12:36: Korn - "Start The Healing"
12:39: Seether f/Amy Lee - "Broken"
12:44: Papa Roach - "Kill The Noise"
12:47: Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Under The Bridge"
12:51: Linkin Park - "Lying From You"
12:54: KALEO - "Way Down We Go"
1:04: Twenty One Pilots - "The Outside"
1:07: Stone Temple Pilots - "Plush"
1:11: Incubus - "I Wish You Were Here"
1:15: lovelytheband - "broken"
1:18: Breaking Benjamin - "Sooner Or Later"
1:21: The Cure - "Friday I'm In Love"
1:25: Foo Fighters - "Best Of You"
Some grunge and post-grunge product for sure but there's some indie mixed in as well, and nu-metal is only represented by a Linkin Park track (Papa Roach and Korn currents are there but both bands have moved away from nu-metal into more standard alternative metal territory).
