I drove many times over the bridge in question. I got my information from people at the World Color plant a half mile from the south end of that bridge. To be fair, downtown Covington is a lot closer.
If a bridge is collapsing, any person is authorized to save lives by any reasonable means.
The story as I got it, was that the Ripley police were informed before the collapse.
They were said to be unimpressed with the story of the bridge falling apart.
If this is completely wrong or inaccurate please set the record straight.
They should have picked up the phone, called Covington PD, and each department sent out a car to the bridge.
