Last song on WODS!

Predictions for the song that will play on WODS before Noon?

My predictions

-"Its Over" by Roy Orbison (Last song on the original WROR).
-"Don't You" by Simple Minds (Last song on WHTT)
-"Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond

wondering how wods will say goodbye, do we know will the regular am drive, mid day host will be on, will they be auto-matic then??

They're playing jockless Classic Hits today. Doesn't sound likely that there will be any on-air fond farewell festivities tomorrow. The hosts are already off the air.

I'm guessing maybe a board-op may insert an appropriate last song, but that may be it.

I've seen rumors that Paula and JJ will be on from 9-noon tomorrow saying goodbye.

Although more of a country song (despite it charting way up on the Billboard "Hot 100" in the early 1960's), I could see Skeeter Davis's "The End Of The World" as WODS-103.3's final song.

Since at the end, they mostly played 1975-1989 music, I could see WODS go out with either Donna Summer's "Last Dance" or Journey's "Separate Ways".

Or even Andrew Gold's "Thank You For Being A Friend".

Since I am the one playing the last song on WODS along with JJ Wright and Jay Gordon - we were thinking of playing the first song we ever played - which was Fun Fun Fun by the Beach Boys - but Donna Summer Last Dance sounds pretty good. I have never been a "radio-info: poster but then again, I've never been unemployed either . AHHHHHHH a new era begins!

Paula, congratulations on your long run on WODS! Twenty-five years, I believe! One of the best and most consistent voices of the past quarter-century of Boston radio. You will be sadly missed. Best of luck on all of your future endeavors!

Paula:

"Go Now".....The Moody Blues
"Goodbye".....Mary Hopkin
"I'll Be Back" (optimism).....The Beatles
"Hello Goodbye"...The Beatles
"See Ya Later Alligator".....Bill Haley & The Comets
"Goodbye My Lover Goodbye".....The Searchers
"Its Over"....Roy Orbison
"The Way We Were".....Barbra Streisand

....or the one that I heard a lot when oldies stations went off...

"American Pie".....Don McLean

Paula.....I well remember the day in 1988 when you left us at KLUV for WODS. Broke my heart! Dallas hasn't been the same without you. You should come back, although on-air gigs are scarce here--I too, am looking. Best of luck!!!

Best of luck to you, JJ & everybody else who made WODS special to all of us who have loved the station over the years . My 2 cents? "Right Back Where We Started From" since the station is returning to CHR/Top 40.

But "Fun Fun Fun" would be a great pick too!

Paula,

You always sounded terrific and upbeat! You did a great job at WODS and the audience in Boston will miss you big time. I'm sure you will find greener pastures. Radio in Boston, however will be diminished!

Best of luck!

Out of format: "Your Move" by Yes: "I've Seen All Good People Turn Their Heads Each Day So Satisfied, I'm On My Way."

Paula and J.J.:

A few years ago, my then-girlfriend and I met J.J. on a casino cruise out of Lynn that WODS sponsored (I had won passes, and he was spinning CD's), and I recall J.J. was playing not just oldies on the boat, but some current hits as well.

I would think both of you could probably do a great job with today's top hits since you guys (and Karen Blake) seem to be so versatile.

Maybe you'll all be part of the new "Amp 103-3".

And J.J.: If you'll still do stuff for CBS Boston (you do some of WBZ-1030's imaging), convince Peter Casey to drop infomercials on Saturday nights and convince him to have you do an oldies show on 'BZ from 7:05 P.M. to 12 Midnight on Saturday nights. Call it "Retro 'BZ", focus on the 1955-70 period, and use some of the vintage WBZ jingles from that era. You---and the show---would be perfect for Saturday nights.

(It also should be simulcast on the 103.3 HD-2/HD-3 oldies stream)

C'mon Paula, you're an oldies classic hits station.

It's gotta be the format's most overplayed song: Brown Eyed Girl. ;)

I just thinking to myself while surfin' on over here....."I wonder what the trainwreck du jour will be?"

SMASH! CBS blows up 103.3. Anyone see that coming? Anyone? Bueller?

THIS! --- is O-Di-ouS! Those beancounters are breakin' up that old gang of mine. Yikes!

Rebuttal?

Easily the best idea I've seen proposed here in a helluva long time. I'd love to see this become a cruisin' staple in 38 states.

I have another idea

During the 1100 hour play Rock around the clock immediately followed by Call Me Maybe

OTOH Carly Rae could be a contender for the first track at amp 103.
