As a ploom of white smoke escapes from the top of the conference room door, we can only ponder that the Corporate Geeeen-yusies at Clear Channel have arrived at...still...yet...another format for the ever-struggling 96.7 frequency. Gee, I certainly hope that they allowed the local GM to attend.
As far as what it will eventually be,...Hmmmmm? They could tease around for days. Let's all take the logic of the old zoo keeper, who said, "Sometimes You Just Gotta Wait, and See What The Monkey Will Do.". Personally, I enjoyed "The Buzzard"! From the beginning, "Shine" didn't have a prayer. Now, if it is an attempt at Classic Rock, then we go back to the ratings strategy: Shave some of the male listeners off of Rock 101, so Whistle can have an easier toot. As for a true Classic Rock, WROQ fails the litmus test. Just compare it to the ones on Satellite, and the understanding is quite clear. Their good book can be easily explained. Since Rock 101 sounds the same as it did 3-4-5-6-7 years ago, they did well, due to all the other stations failing to miss their standard mark. Example: Years ago, Bo Griffin ran MAGIC so far in the dirt, that Entercom was willing to pay her to stay at home. That dive, gave MY102 a huge advance, and yet too...sounded the same as they did years before. I call it The Crow of a...Plastic Rooster! If MAGIC, MY, B-93, and The Planet were all Programmed correctly WROQ would have stayed flat. It's not just logic, it's the simple truth.
