Looking For Advice- Stream, Podcast Or Other

I'm looking for advice and input as to which of the following options to choose for delivery of my show.

Said options are Live365, Loudcaster, podcasting, and sharing recorded air checks of Part 15 radio. I know that the third and fourth give better audio quality. I also am operating under the presumption that strictly speaking, podcasting without paying royalties is a no-no from a legal standpoint. If that's not so, then I might go that route.

And I think that sharing air checks of an actual radio station is completely legal, or at least close enough to not worry me. It'd also be the most time-consuming option, but I have more free time than I know what to do with, so no problem there.

I'm familiar already with Live365 and how it works, and the quality of a 128k/stereo stream.

But I know next to nothing about Loudcaster and how good its sound quality is. They use a
standardized 32k AAC stream for delivery, right? With a flat rate for streaming and no caps on total listener hours?

I've got what is easily the best-sounding airchain I've ever put together, and high quality music. I just hate the thought of wasting all that by having tinny and artifact-filled audio in the final product.

Responses can be posted here, or send me a private message, either is good.

That, and a 64/22 mp3 stream or both. Your choice.

No, their rates are, roughly, $10 for the first 5 slots and then $1 per slot in groups of 5.

If your just wanting to send out your show just use the hosting sites.
Sendspace, 4shared, Yousendit, ect.
Loudcaster and Live365 are for internet radio,
and are unable to be picked up by any radio station.
Your best bet would be to go pre recorded and use those services I listed above. If you want it on the internet try and find a willing station to air it, that way you don't have to worry about royalties.

Music programming streamed under strict limits via the Internet is subject to song publishing royalties to ASCAP, BMI and SESAC. Streaming music performance royalties are subject to SoundExchange royalties. Internet distribution of recorded/podcast music programming (regardless of original source) is illegal without the explicit permission of the copyright holders. The law does not care if you think it is somehow unfair. If you don't like the law you should work to have it changed.

New development, people. I've just made a decision to go totally old-school on you all. ;D

I found some superb free VST effects earlier today that combined with Breakaway Basic using French Kiss and FM mode give me the BEST sound I've ever achieved by far.

This is several orders of magnitude beyond what I felt possible. I'll post on my webpage what the VST effects are, or you can feel free of course to send me a PM here. All four are freeware and one is hard to find, so I've kept that one on my computer for anyone who needs it.

This sound is just too damn good to waste on a stream. I'm going to buy an actual transmitter and return to my Part 15 roots. Anyone who wants to hear the station can PM me privately for an air check. You can get a recorded file or if you really want to go retro, mail me a blank cassette for me to dub shows onto and return to you.

That French Kiss is my favorite, too. I'd really like to hear an aircheck. You didn't mention whether you want to do AM or FM,
I'm very into the sound of AM when done right, and it's hard to argue with the better range on AM for Part 15.

Post a link to an aircheck in this thread, I'm sure others will also give a listen.

Progress is being made, people. I did a test broadcast for an hour earlier this morning and to be honest, 80% of it sounded good and 20% sounded bad. The good- tight segues between songs, PSAs and other program material. The bad- small but noticeable noise in my voice-overs, so I need a quieter space, better microphone or both. And I'm sure many of us know that what sounds near-perfect in an air chain can have issues when actually put on the air over a transmitter. I'm tweaking a few settings and will do another test tomorrow. Everyone's ongoing advice and patience is greatly appreciated.

I'm really interested and it's worth the 256 to really hear it.

I'm happy with 192s into my fleapower AM. I do grate on the 128s when I hear them.

I have been ill for a week. But I have good news. The Live365 stream will be up again later today. Doing things any other way just is too time-consuming. I think that even at 128, the stream will sound pretty good. Everyone here has been patient, polite and helpful, for which I am grateful.

Link??

It does sound really good for 128k. Very good balance and natural sounding upper end.

Hate the Live 365 "features".

We can hear you're still having fun with the allergies.

I use KryKey.com - 320K streaming, unlimited listeners, chatroom, multiple libraries (flash based), live talk, dj to listener talk over air, not based in the USA, great service, and free

who in the heck decided you need such a high bitrate?

128 is excellent. 64 is good 32 is a tad low, but can still sound really good.
I think 320 is overkill.
