Cherie * Doug Christian * Mike McCann * Pal Al * Sambo * Jim White * Dainya * Jim Berry

Dainya is planning on coming. Not sure about McCann but I don't think he's coming this time.

2/20 Update:

Scoot Paisant * Kim Stevens * Soxless Scott Segraves * Don Banks * Blair * Bob Robin * Weerd Wayne * Bo Walker * Bob Walker * Buddy Burch * Dolph Federico * Jeremy & Friend * Tom Courtney * Beth Fury & Jeeves 2 * Kim Diamond * Allen Beebe * Mark Glynn of Lagniappe Radio Network * Cherie & Hubby Richard * Dainya* and your congenial host Captain Humble.

A definite radio all-star show, and more to come. We should all chip in $20 each and get Skinny's arse down here.

Still waiting to hear from previous guests:
Doug Christian * Pal Al * Sambo * Jim White * Jim Berry

Man! I haven't seen Gator since the Q-93 days. It'll be good to see you again my friend!

Hey Blair off Da Air. Next time a chunk of your arm rots off bring it to Cap's. I'll have him cook it down in some au jus and make me a roast beef. At least you would have some value to your life. 12 inch Blair, dressed with a bag of chips $9.95.

My Gawd, you two are sick puppies! Cannabalism and Gawd-knows what other -ism's will be part of the lunch at Cap's.

Sounds like fun. It'll be like the '70's all over again. I'm looking forward to it !!!

Is it the part owner/morning attempt at a DJ/damnation of a radio frequency at 94.3 person???? Wouldn't want to get too specific...

Ding Ding Ding...we have a winner. And "attempt" is being kind. Worthless is more like it.

FYI...the arm was from skin cancer. But if knew you were hungry, I would have saved the big hunk from the back of my knee that the turn signal housing took out from the motorcycle accident. You could have gotten the illegal that caused it cook you up a Mexican dish.

BTW...heard after you left Kenner, "big & stupid" wouldn't have you in Harahan. What? Couldn't write tickets fast enough?

Look forward to seeing you in person so we may continue this at Cap's.

Hey Blur,

What was the name of the receptionist we had at KOOL on Causeway (in the pre-di*khead Andy Holt days) who was married to Barry Cowsill? And don't tell me Mrs. Cowsill! :)

It just came up in a conversation recently, and I remember one afternoon she came into the studio in about 1995 when I was on the air ... she was new at the station and I had never seen or met her yet ... and she asked me to play a Cowsill's record. I looked at her and said I'd rather have bamboo shoved under my fingernails. She glared at me and informed me she was Barry Cowsill's wife and that day was his birthday! I had no idea they were living in New Orleans.

She and Barry even joined us one year around that time on St. Patrick's day when we were broadcasting from Ronnie Burke's porch in da Irish Channel with (the late) Major Tom's sound system, back before they started having DJ's with 10,000 watts of power blaring out every 50 feet.

I felt bad enough for the longest time about my verbal faux pas to her, and it all came back to me when they found his body on the wharf (reportedly the "Charles Street wharf" at the time, wherever that is...neither Chartres nor St. Charles run to the wharfs on the river).

Anyway, I hope by now she has forgotten my rudeness. I wonder too if Susan Cowsill (she used to call you on the request line at KOOL, remember?) and that Vickie gal from the Bangles are still in town and playing in the Continental Drifters.

Just musings on a Saturday night...

'scuse a butt-in.

Susan and Vicki Peterson were breathtakingly great when they were together in The Drifters. For New Orleans to have a band made up of a dB, a Bangle and a Cowsill -- one that you could regularly see for a few bucks at the Howlin' Wolf -- was quite impressive.

The Drifters have long-since drifted on - but Susan is still in town. For quite some time she has been hosting a "covered in Vinyl" show at the Carrollton Station, in which she and a random selection of musicians will cover a famous album front-to-back. I heard her do Joni Mitchell -- Court and Spark, I think. By her own admission JM is a difficult artist for musicians to cover, but Susan and the band did great.

From the looks of her web site she is staying quite busy. http://www.susancowsill.com/home.php

We now return you to your regularly scheduled food fight :)

Hi Paul and thanks for the update. I always heard the Continental Drifters were a great group and when there were so many opportunities to hear them perform in the last few years, I'm sorry I just never got around to attending a performance. I guess they must have broken up as a group when Susan got divorced from fellow Drifter Peter (?) Holsapple. I'm glad to hear that she is still in town though and still performing at Carrollton Station. I'll have to check the newspaper nightclub listings to see when she'll be there.

Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled topic on this thread:

2/23 Update:
Scoot Paisant * Kim Stevens * Soxless Scott Segraves * Don Banks * Blair * Bob Robin * Weerd Wayne * Bo Walker * Bob Walker * Buddy Burch * Dolph Federico * Jeremy & Friend * Tom Courtney * Beth Fury & Jeeves 2 * Kim Diamond * Allen Beebe * Mark Glynn of Lagniappe Radio Network * Cherie & Hubby Richard * Dainya* Gator & Shepea * and your congenial host Captain Humble.

More to come I'm sure. Still waiting to hear from previous guests:
Doug Christian * Pal Al * Sambo * Jim White * Jim Berry

Maybe Blair can bring Susan Cowsill along on his motorcycle!

I would love to be there(I was wanting to show up with my co-worker Dainya) but that is my better half's birthday, and promised she would divorce me if I did. So, I guess I will have to wait until next time. I really wanted to see the all-star lineup of my early radio listening days and those that I wanted to meet in person for the first time. Hopefully another one of these gatherings will be soon. ;)

Hi Johnny,

Bring her along! You don't have to stay for the entire time if you two have other plans, but try to at least come and meet everybody. We'd love to have you, and you can get into the picture and have a one-of-a-kind souvenir of the group, yourself included in it. This could possibly be the last one we do, and if it is you'll be sorry you missed it, so join us for at least a little while if you can.

Remind her that her birthday goes all the way till midnight! :)

Update:

Cap has received commitments from Doug (The Magic) Christian, along with Bruce Corne from Ch. 26.

2/24 Update:
Scoot Paisant * Kim Stevens * Soxless Scott Segraves * Don Banks * Blair * Bob Robin * Weerd Wayne * Bo Walker * Bob Walker * Buddy Burch * Dolph Federico * Jeremy & Friend * Tom Courtney * Beth Fury & Jeeves 2 * Kim Diamond * Allen Beebe * Mark Glynn of Lagniappe Radio Network * Cherie & Hubby Richard * Dainya* Gator & Shepea * Bruce Corne* Doug Christian * and your congenial host Captain Humble.

More to come I'm sure. Still waiting to hear from previous guests:
Pal Al * Sambo * Jim White * Jim Berry

And the hits just keep on coming!

Cap informs me that Jim White and Sambo have commitments with a St. Patrick's parade in their market and will regretfully have to miss this one, but they send their love to all.

Cap also reports a tentative "yes" from WNOE legend Dan Diamond. So that would put us here at the moment:

2/26 Update:
Scoot Paisant * Kim Stevens * Soxless Scott Segraves * Don Banks * Blair * Bob Robin * Weerd Wayne * Bo Walker * Bob Walker * Buddy Burch * Dolph Federico * Jeremy & Friend * Tom Courtney * Beth Fury & Jeeves 2 * Kim Diamond * Allen Beebe * Mark Glynn of Lagniappe Radio Network * Cherie & Hubby Richard * Dainya* Gator & Shepea * Bruce Corne* Doug Christian * Dan Diamond • and your congenial host Captain Humble.

More to come I'm sure. Still waiting to hear from previous guests:
Pal Al * Jim Berry

And where are Warren Montet and Al Monet thru all this? Michael Scurlock? RayMeaux? Danny Miller? Ho-Z? Those are just a few off the top of my head. Let's find out who's bald now.

Put out the word...let's make this one the radio All-Star reunion that we may never top again!

Dolph, who is in the shirt screening business, offered to make some t-shirts for the attendees with logos of the stations from back then. We didn't have luck finding any though.

A great idea from Dolph and we all appreciate it, but I couldn't even tell you what a TIX logo looked like. It changed with every new PD and every new frustrated-wannabe GM yahoo who secretly wanted to be "on the air" thru his jock staff thru his own suggestions, liners, goofy ideas, etc. Ever had one of those who wanted to be on the air *through you*? I was even PD under a New Yawk native who became GM at WTIX in the 80's, who wanted the "logo" for TIX on billboards (!) etc. to be a gorilla wearing a propeller beanie, because he had seen that foolishness in New York.

I quit him and TIX after only 5 months. Who needs such embarrassment from a fool GM?

Alrighhht! Add Mike McCann & Pal Al.

2/29 Update:
Scoot Paisant * Soxless Scott Segraves * Don Banks * Blair * Bob Robin * Weerd Wayne * Bo Walker * Bob Walker * Buddy Burch * Dolph Federico * Jeremy & Friend * Tom Courtney * Beth Fury & Jeeves 2 * Kim Diamond * Allen Beebe * Mark Glynn of Lagniappe Radio Network * Cherie & Hubby Richard * Dainya* Gator & Shepea * Bruce Corne* Doug Christian * Dan Diamond * Mike McCann * Pal Al Nassar * and your congenial host Captain Humble.

Unfortunately, Kim Stevens goes on the injured reserve list for this one. We'll miss ya, Toad! Who was supposed to bring Walter Moorehead? Be great to see him again.

Don Banks & Blair: My son Scott, who worked with you (us) at KOOL and who is now anchoring TV in Orlando said to tell you both hi.

Hope we can get this crowd to fit in the photograph from lunch. Enjoy Leap Day, y'all.

Scott crossed my mind just the other day. Tell him hello next time you talk to him.

Forget that... I just Googled him and sent him an email. The boy done good!

I understand that Jim Berry has been informed so he may be there again.

New arrival - Cap informs me that sales legend Harold Mann will be there, and Jim Berry is a "tentative", but if I know Berry, he'll be there!

So here's where we stand, 2 weeks away:

2/29 Update:
Scoot Paisant * Soxless Scott Segraves * Don Banks * Blair * Bob Robin * Weerd Wayne * Bo Walker * Bob Walker * Buddy Burch * Dolph Federico * Jeremy & Friend * Tom Courtney * Beth Fury & Jeeves 2 * Kim Diamond * Allen Beebe * Mark Glynn of Lagniappe Radio Network * Cherie & Hubby Richard * Dainya* Gator & Shepea * Bruce Corne* Doug Christian * Dan Diamond * Mike McCann * Pal Al Nassar * Harold Mann * Jim Berry * and your congenial host Captain Humble.

Helluva lineup, gang! Cap, you better beat the walls back for this crowd. Maybe Kal Rudman will cover this one! :)
