Hey Blur,
What was the name of the receptionist we had at KOOL on Causeway (in the pre-di*khead Andy Holt days) who was married to Barry Cowsill? And don't tell me Mrs. Cowsill!
It just came up in a conversation recently, and I remember one afternoon she came into the studio in about 1995 when I was on the air ... she was new at the station and I had never seen or met her yet ... and she asked me to play a Cowsill's record. I looked at her and said I'd rather have bamboo shoved under my fingernails. She glared at me and informed me she was Barry Cowsill's wife and that day was his birthday! I had no idea they were living in New Orleans.
She and Barry even joined us one year around that time on St. Patrick's day when we were broadcasting from Ronnie Burke's porch in da Irish Channel with (the late) Major Tom's sound system, back before they started having DJ's with 10,000 watts of power blaring out every 50 feet.
I felt bad enough for the longest time about my verbal faux pas to her, and it all came back to me when they found his body on the wharf (reportedly the "Charles Street wharf" at the time, wherever that is...neither Chartres nor St. Charles run to the wharfs on the river).
Anyway, I hope by now she has forgotten my rudeness. I wonder too if Susan Cowsill (she used to call you on the request line at KOOL, remember?) and that Vickie gal from the Bangles are still in town and playing in the Continental Drifters.
Just musings on a Saturday night...
