Major CC flip in Orlando

I'm very interested to watch 102 Jamz in the coming year. I haven't listened in forever, but I just checked out their playlist and holy crap...they're playing Moves Like Jagger?! Wow. This used to be the epitome of an Urban misclassified as a Rhythmic. Now they're even poppier than Power. XL's outright dominance (which, by the way, is absolutely deserved) is obviously not helping Jamz either, and they now seem to be a target too.

Melony is a good jock and nice fit for their newfound musical skew. If they're going to lean so mainstream, though, they absolutely need to do something about mornings. Rickey Smiley in the morning and Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Adele all day? I don't think so.

Smooth Jazz 102.5 is now broadcasting in mono.
Not sure if that means anything.
96.5 is broadcasting in mono, because it's a Talk station now.

102 Jamz will not be "Hot" if it flips to CHR.
There's already a "Hot 95.9" here, which is Christian Hip Hop.
It'll have to be like "Amp Radio Orlando" or something, which is on 105.1-HD2 AND already on Saturday nights with "Amp'd".
Sounds a little more complicated for CBS to flip 101.9 to CHR.
I don't listen to 102 Jamz anymore because of airhorns, lasers, & same DJ drops over & over every 2 minutes.

I think if cc flipps anything it will be 104.1. Would not bother me much except for sbk live but I'm sure he would just make a podcast or internet station. To me that is the most logical thing. I'm guessing if they did this, either relay 540 or smooth jazz but if they did smooth jazz they would have to go a bit more live and local. Just my thoughts. Plus 104.1 has a better signal then 103.1 ever did. I'd be very surprised if they flipped rumba. But if they did that, how about cool 100 again? Hmmm now I'm just dreaming but it was a nice thought. :) They could give sunny a run for the money. How about 50s. 60s and 70s? No 80s. Leave that one to sunny. But I do have to say, I did hear mac the knife on sunny the other day which is from 59 if I'm not mistaken. Speaking of rumba, I have noticed the stereo on that station has been very messed up. Sounds almost like it's cutting in and out. Very weird.

Did you hear the man? he said ANGLO......then K92..... then under preformimg add it up.
Boring, same burnt out music, NO personality, tired sounding, since they hired Shackelford 11 years ago, he is on the 5th morning show, if you want to call it that, all they do is play the same tired 10 songs an hour, not a show. He cant manage hi profile talent, firing......Ron Bisson, Bo and Melissa, Ellis B Feaster, Doc Holliday, and now has a producer playing music and airing wacky prank calls. Seem's like what Early Riser is getting at. But the Real Radio thing has legs.
The only show worth a damn is Philips, and he is mailing it in, playing stupid games with his staff, no listener involvement. The midday show is ego driven, trying to be hip and cool, and not saying anything anyone cares about. The Monster's just talk over eachother, so who knows what they are saying, and the night show is a huge waste of keeping there power on. Shake it up!!! Put real talk talent on, they get embarrased every day by DBO FM, even Clarke Howard wipes up there midday's

Well we'll just see what happens then in these next few weeks... Will be interesting.

I think "anglo" was an ethnic slur aimed at me for my take on "Rumba".

K92 is a Cox station, not Clear Channel.

102JAMZ is a CBS station, not Clear Channel.

The point of this thread is that apparently a Clear Channel station, which means either, Magic, JRR, 104.1 or possibly even Rumba is possibly going to flip to country.

Y'all collectively get an "F" on this this one.

Who said it was Clear Channel???? Anglo is a radio term, for country, Rock, and Right Wing Talk radio. Get in the business before you comment on it

Wow. Thanks for clearing that up.

I agree. WJHM is starting to become more like sister station WPGC/Washington, D.C. I wouldn't be surprised if they drop Smiley in the future if they do go all the way with its shift toward Rhythmic.

So, how is this a "major" flip. They are Urban, and may go Rythmic, that's "major". How about flip it to Active or Classic Rock? Rock 1019 has a nice ring, or Zeta 2.

HMMM. I think 1190 is in the middle of a flip. I just happened to be scanning the am dial by chance and heard 1190 playing some clips of different things and they played aerosmith's sweet emotion and not they are playing heal the world by michael jackson.

Yeah. I thought it was weird. 1190 going news talk? Do we really need another news talk station? I hope that's just a stunt. and 101.9 going rock? Do you think CBS would try rock again? Man I love these types of boards :). I love speculating format flips.

I think if CBS didn't learn their lessons from O-Rock, it would sink pretty quick. I also doubt CBS would just dump the format like that after 20-25 years. Maybe they would, who knows, I'm not a radio executive...just pretend to be!

And a "Rock 1019" name might irritate CC-Orlando and cause some legal rumblings. Very similar to "Real Rock" and radio stations have taken each other to court for less similar names!

Re: 1190? really?

Just heard one of their top of the hour sweepers. They're stunting. They tried news/talk here before and it failed. Looks like they'll be trying it again, and once again, it's going to fail. Just look at WORL and WEUS for example. Enjoy your 0.1

Lol to genesis then :). So, Orlando loves the news and talk stations ay? We have 540, 580, 660, 810 and 1190 if you would count 810 as a news station but either way it's still a talk station. Plus 96.5 and 104.1. I don't think 104.1 will be doing the flip because everyone says they will be back in 2012. I'll have to check there ratings. HMMMM I'm beginning to think if CC does indeed do a flip it's 107.7. Not sure why.

Just bring another rock station to Otown. Seriously, one rock station?

Why not local all-news? That's the format of the week!

There just seems to be too many hands grabbing the piece of News/Talk pie. And considering the fact nobody under 30 has touched the "AM" button on their radio, that may be one of the best ways to make a name for themselves
