major shakeup for CMG talkers?

First let me say, I've never met any of the Curtis talk hosts besides Allen. That being said, it's hard to watch this industry, and my format particularly, continue to contract. People have sent emails to me this week either admonishing our "part" in the change or celebrating our victory. I think we all know the neither scenario is accurate. Competition breeds value for what we do. A company who feels like they "can't lose" because of a competitor folding or dramatically changing what it is they do, has less incentive to value the talent they have.

And I mean it when I say that I hope B&B and the rest of the Curtis talk hosts continue to challenge competitors like me to make sure we have our shit together each day. Call me whatever you like but I will never understand the people who will get on a board like this and shit all over someone that is just trying to stay on the right side of the unemployment line.

Lastly, I am sorry to see Allen out in this whole thing. We only spent a few hour chatting over drinks, and probably don't agree on too many political items, but anybody doing this job while bucking the mold has my respect.

The Winston-Salem Journal's story on the changes (at http://www2.journalnow.com/news/201...vamps-morning-show-adds-talk-show-ar-2034327/) suggests that WZTK will end up flipping "to a Hispanic format".

If you actually read all the words in the story, the only mention of 'Spanish/Hispanic' is in the comment on the story from some guy at Rockingham County High School who said "Another Mexican radio Station? No Wonder ya can't find good music." AND he says this while 101.1 is simulcasting the Pulse. ( not a spanish format, if that needs mentioning )

This is the first mention in any source that I could find a 'spanish' mention and from this, you think it's written in gold.

Brains.. you have them... use them.

Personally, I am hoping for 'All Hawaiin"... Johnny Fever - WKRP in Cincinatti

EYES.....you have them...use them ;) Right near the beginning of the article, second paragraph in...
A programming overhaul begins today at WSJS 600 AM that features a new local afternoon talk show and a revamping of its morning lineup.

The station is inserting Brad Krantz and Britt Whitmire into its 3 to 6 p.m. weekday time slot as part of a ripple effect from Burlington station WZTK 101.1 FM going to a Hispanic format. The duo's morning show in the Triad has been popular for years.

I hope this isn't a bad sign because he's played so many good roles including Mr. Moore on "Head of the Class", but he was a homeless man on "Mike and Molly". Now he was really good, but can't he do better?

FWIW, Looks like ClearChannel registered http://laley1011.com back in November 2009.

That was when they decided to change the format on 94.5 and probably were expecting CMG will move La Ley from 96.9 to 101.1 in order to serve the Triad with a Spanish station. Sad that CMG didn't do it then. :'(
