Markets where CHR doesn't do well....

Atlantaboy, there was one point in time where WKQI did start to move Mainstream in response to Amp Radio debuting in 2009. KIIS did the same thing when Amp LA came on the scene. Slowly, WKQI and KIIS would play things like Taylor Swift, Owl City, Boys Like Girls, and alot of other rock/alternative-pop records from 2009 they wouldn't normally play, while both AMPS would be extremely Rhythmic and ignore those songs. However KIIS and WKQI have both returned to their Rhythmic lean since then.

Actually, when Amp Radio Detroit debuted it was MORE mainstream CHR than Channel 95-5, not less. I believe at the time Channel 95-5 was already evolving to a more balanced CHR as its former longtime PD, Domino, was busy with the launch of 92.3 Now New York, and ironically Z-100 New York's PD Sharon Dastur also handled PD duties for WKQI.
Cunfused? ;D

Your right, my memory is bad. Maybe it was 2010, but I know for sure at one point that Channel 95-5 was mainstream while AMP Detroit was very Rhythmic. It seems to be the opposite now in 2011.
