Hilarious. Getting on a dude SEVEN HOURS after he signed off. Not everybody lives all day on this board, Walker.

I have gotten the chance to listen to alot of meridian radio during the summer and here are my thoughts, not impressed! WOKK replaced their am show with a CHR jock and hired an attractive ladie for his partner. Hey,folks, this is RADIO,LOOKS-TALENT=CRAPPY AM MORNING SHOW! MISS 101, not much better,Scotty Ray and Debbie in the morning sound unprepared for any subject they start to talk about unless it is a live spot, even the live spots sound like they are reading straight off their information sheet.WMOX is ok if you like talk news talk radio.Bill Reedy and friends are not that great.I haven't listened to Much more than that. What ever happened to local morning shows in Meridian that used to be fun and entertaining? Someone please find Mark Murphy,Doc and the Kenman or the Q morning zoo ,Even the old WOKK Breakfast bunch with Becky,Earl,And Jay King was more entertaining than the live AM shows we have now. They made going to school alot of fun!! These are just my thoughts.Does anyone else any?

You can catch Jay King's entertaining and fun self in the afternoons on 101. Have you listened enough to know that he is on there or do you just do your consulting in the mornings?

Were you out of town or here all summer. You said in an earlier post Jay that you had been gone for along time and had not heard any Meridian radio. Just curious. Seems to me you just have it out for radio in Meridian. Where do you crack your mike? Maybe you could give us some tips. Can't get Earl back. Sorry to say.

Your comment about WOKK hiring an attractive lady for their morning show is offensive to all women jocks. Every new jock has to settle into their show. I'm sure when Becky and Debbie first started out they also had to find their niche. If my memory serves me right Becky is also attractive, as is Debbie. What you said is a low blow. You seem fixated on morning shows. Are you here to just critique the morning shows?

Not at all,I just listen in the mornings on my way to work.No offense to attractive ladies in radio, what i am talking about is talent. It takes more than a pretty face, and in all of the names you mentioned, you have to admit the talent is not there.you have to the talent or the looks don't matter.Do you really think i am out of line to say this? Radiogal, I work here in meridian, when Miss 101 came on the air I was on assignment on the coast,I am now back in town and have been for a couple of weeks and you are right,I use to crack the mike part time down in Butler Al. but I did not have the talent or the looks to stay in it !!!

Let me get this straight you are saying that all women morning show jocks in Meridian, present and past don't have talent?

Well,I could be nice and polite and try to get out of this but what the heck, this is just my opinion . Can any of the women, past or present,on Meridian area morning shows go out on their own and work other airshifts other than a AM side-kick slots. Name a few if you can

The good ol' boy mentality is alive and well I see. How many women jocks do you think would be offered their own show in the Meridian area? You really think that has anything to do with talent when there are a few lame male jocks in the Meridian area too?

I havn't been through Meridian since the spring of 1995. I'm just curious if someone can sum up what stations were what back then, what they are now, etc. As far as I can remember (when I visited relatives 11 years ago) I listened to 97-OKK (which was my favorite), and I think there were some stations on 101.3 (?) and 102.1 (?)that I listened to and they played CHR/Hot AC I think? and then there was 95.1, but I never tuned into that one, cuz of the fact that they didn't appeal to the younger crowd (since I was only 9 yrs old at the time).

Another thing; I do remember going up to the top of some hill to the south of the city, and there were quite a few radio towers up there. Where my family lived, I could see the towers on the hill from the house. I wish I could find pics of the sites, but no luck :( . (Anyone knows what FM's/TV's is up there?)

Thanks y'all

Okay Jay. Let me see, in one post you say they should bring back Jay King, Becky and Earl. Then in another post you say Becky is not talented and we know that Earl passed away. So who should come back?

And as far as looks go, I think everyone should be somewhat presentable in public. We all know looks don't mean anything but being able to relate to an audience does. If you can relate then maybe you don't need talent. Just a thought.

Bring Earl back!! Now that would put exitement back in radio don't you think? Let me say one more thing and I will be through.Isn't relating to the public a talent?I did not mean to offend anyone, past or present,I started this just to talk about Meridian AM radio shows. It is alot more fun looking from the outside in than from the inside out.Plus always remember, opinions are like &^%&#@*s,everybody has one and they all stink !!!!!

As usual, you start something and will not finish it when you are challenged. I asked who would you bring back knowing that Earl has passed away and saying that Becky has no talent. But I did not expect to get an answer out of you. You just want to stir the stink pot, try to make folks feel bad because of your own lack of talent. I will remind you the three women you mentioned, two of them have or were on the air 10 years each and I am sure the other will be too. That has to mean something. All with great ratings. Maybe Meridian doesn't need talent. Do me a favor on your way home listen to the afternoon jocks and then do your fabulous consulting on them. Don't just pick on the morning shows. The mid day and afternoon talent is very important to the sound of a station.
