Midnight Train To Georgia - The Soul Hits

hornet61 said:
You are right ,Spinners were never the same ...Wynne replaced by John Edwards..Wynne eventually died of a heart attack in 1984(age43). The flip side of "I'll Be Around" is my favorite Spinner song "How I Could I Let You Get Away" (#77).
My favorite Tammi terrell song is the answer song of the Spinners very first hit "Thats What girls Are Made For"....she called hers "Thats What Boys Are Made for"

Back In the 80's In did a Soul Show and the most requested songs by the Spinners was "Sadie" and "Ghetto Child".

"Ghetto Child" was a good one. First time I heard it was at one of their shows in the early 70s.

I always thought WAMO-AM might have done well with a 'classic soul' format at some point. If they stuck mostly to crossovers ("My Girl", "Can I Change My Mind, "Funky B-Way", "Stay In My Corner", "Respect", "Didn't I Blow Your Mind", "It's Your Thing" ...etc) presented, in a tight, well-produced, up-tempo manner. It's probably too late now....

"Talk to Me" was released both as Sunny and the Sunglows (on Sunglow Records) and as Sunny and the Sunliners (On Teardrop Records)in 1963. Always confusing with the early Sunny Osuna Stuff. Are you gents familiar with his mexican stuff in particular the classic "Carino Nuevo" ????? The Lp featuring Talk to Me, Rags to Riches and Carino Nuevo...included an absolute killer version of Joe Barry's "I'm A Fool to Care". Sunny is a God in the southwest.
Along with Rudy (Gonzales)and the Reno-Bops...they dominated the scene in the Tex-Mex/Pop through out the southwest in the early 60's ...... Teardop Records release of Rudy and the Reno-Bops ..Tejano Enamorado/Un Ratito was a monster. I must have worn out a couple of copies of that 45,certainly a long time favorite of mine.

Talk To Me - Sunny & The Sunglows version

I agree--better than Little Willie John's.

Definitely better than Little Willie John's or The Five Keys.

I don't remember the Five Keys version of that song.

I could be mistaken on The Five Keys. Just consider me one of those listeners who have no clue.

I've Really Got To Use My Imagination - Gladys Knight & the Pips

I don't know about tail feathers, but I KNOW I ain't gonna bump no more with no big fat woman!

See this is exactly why I stick to the "Harlem Schuffle", because it's less hazardous on by body.

music to do the Harlem Schuffle Too:
Harlem Schuffle - Bob and Earl
Get On Up - Esquires
Monkey Time - Major Lance
Strokin' (slowed down to 3/4 speed) - Clarence Carter
Feel So Bad - Little Milton
Lets Groove(slowed down to 3/4 speed) - Earth Wind and Fire
Having a Party - The Ovations
Driving Wheel - Little Junior Parker
You Can't Change that - Ray parker Jr and Raydio
Funky Broadway - Wilson Pickett

HARLEM SHUFFLE
(Relf/Nelson)

You move it to the left
And you go for yourself
You move it to the right
Yeah if it takes all night
Now take it kinda slow
With a whole lot of soul
Don't move it too fast
Just make it last

You scratch just like a monkey
Yeah you do real cool
You slide it to the limbo
Yeah how low can you go?
Now come on baby
Don't fall down on me now
Just move it right here
To the Harlem shuffle
Yeah yeah yeah to the Harlem shuffle
Yeah yeah yeah to the Harlem shuffle

Hitch hitch hike baby
Across the floor
I can't stand it no more
Now come on baby
Now get into your slide
Just ride ride ride
Little pony, ride!

Instead of "Bend Over Let Me see You Shake A Tail Feather"...I might not be able to get back up.
