I can still do it once and then I'm in bed for a week when my back goes out ;D

I don't know about tail feathers, but I KNOW I ain't gonna bump no more with no big fat woman!

See this is exactly why I stick to the "Harlem Schuffle", because it's less hazardous on by body.

music to do the Harlem Schuffle Too:
Harlem Schuffle - Bob and Earl
Get On Up - Esquires
Monkey Time - Major Lance
Strokin' (slowed down to 3/4 speed) - Clarence Carter
Feel So Bad - Little Milton
Lets Groove(slowed down to 3/4 speed) - Earth Wind and Fire
Having a Party - The Ovations
Driving Wheel - Little Junior Parker
You Can't Change that - Ray parker Jr and Raydio
Funky Broadway - Wilson Pickett

HARLEM SHUFFLE
(Relf/Nelson)

You move it to the left
And you go for yourself
You move it to the right
Yeah if it takes all night
Now take it kinda slow
With a whole lot of soul
Don't move it too fast
Just make it last

You scratch just like a monkey
Yeah you do real cool
You slide it to the limbo
Yeah how low can you go?
Now come on baby
Don't fall down on me now
Just move it right here
To the Harlem shuffle
Yeah yeah yeah to the Harlem shuffle
Yeah yeah yeah to the Harlem shuffle

Hitch hitch hike baby
Across the floor
I can't stand it no more
Now come on baby
Now get into your slide
Just ride ride ride
Little pony, ride!

Instead of "Bend Over Let Me see You Shake A Tail Feather"...I might not be able to get back up.

Dance To The Guitar Man--Duane Eddy
Dancin Machine--Jackson 5
Let The Little Girl Dance--Bobby Bland
Boogie Shoes--KC & The Sunshine Band
Land Of A 1000 Dances--Chris Kenner
Dance With Me Henry (Wallflower)--Etta James

I'm worn out just readying the list ;D

I Met Him On A Sunday--Shirelles
At The Club--The Drifters
Up In The Streets Of Harlem--Drifters
Out On The Floor--Dobie Gray
Loop De Loop--Johnny Thunder
Your Good Thing (Is About to End)--Lou Rawls

BTW: Silkie--I do prefer the Five Dutones version of "Shake A Tail Feather"

That's the version I have in my collection, but I figured I would post both.

Way to go silkie............your version was on the original "Hairspray" soundtrack .....John Waters always picks the deeper cuts for his movies, not the wimpy overplayed hits that are used over and over again on every soundtrack.

Other really cool Tunes from the original Hairspray

Nothing Takes the place of You - Toussaint McCall
I Wish I were a Princess - Little Peggy March
Madison Time - Ray Brayant Combo
I'm Blue (Gong Gong Gong) - Ikettes
Footstompin - the Flares (they were Also the cadets and the jacks)
You'll Loose a Good Thing - Barbara Lynn
Train To Nowhere - Champs (not on the soundtrack)
Lifes Too Short - The Lafayettes (not on the soundtrack)

I still have the original 45 of the Five Dutones version.

On the 50's/60's/70's site we all seem to lose interest in anything past 79, on the average, not all of course.
The following are my contribution for some 80's Soul...God Forbid The EIGHTIES!!!!

Here Goes.

One In a Million - Larry Graham
When We Get Married - Larry Graham
And The Beat Goes On - Whispers
Into The Night - George Benson
Fantastic Voyage - Lakeside
Gonna Take A Miracle - Denise Williams
Sexual Healing - Marvin Gaye
Billie Jean - Michael Jackson
I Just Called To Say I Love You - Stevie Wonder
Nightshift - Commodores
On My own - pattie Labelle and Michael McDonald
Shake You Down - Gregory Abbott
Little Walter - Toni, Tony Toney (one of these names is wrong, and they are in the wrong order, who can correct them)

On a serious note this is such fun commensurating with fellow music fans...this helps me cope with some recent personal problems, my only child is in need , she is not well and I have to rush out of town tommorow and help strighten her out, I will not be in any mood to fire up a computer until the problems can be resolved, I hope with Gods Grace to fix the problems and be back to normal by next week. Hopefully, until then adios, and Keep on Rockin.'

There were some great soul hits in the 80s. Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, George Benson, Sade, and some that were mentioned in the last post. The 90s....everything went to heck in a handbasket musically.

my problem with 80s soul is that the aggressive funky drive that was present in 60s and 70s soul seemed to turn in a jazz direction in the 80s, all silk, quiet storm slow , in a coma, beats; not my cup of tea
