More changes on the way - this time CC?

Honestly......

-I would think that Clear Channel would keep Project on the strong signal to attempt pick up all 5 of Dave's listene..... oh, right, this is Clear Channel, the company which decided to rob christmas from 94.9.

-96.1: Project to WILD
-105.3: ElParton to Project
-96.7: WILD to ESPN Deportes
-105.7: WILD to Peach (AC, Soft AC, or Oldies, either way, cut off "Call Me Maybe" with "Your Wildest Dreams".)

The Bull and WGST will stay as is.

Because I waited too long to edit my quote, I guess that CC could also use the Peach name for Variety Hits. They brought back the SHE name in Miami to 103.5 for variety hits in May.
Only problem with Peach is that it's still very strongly associated with beautiful music, at least among ATL long-timers, even they've been out of the BM format for about 25 years.

WSHE is interesting for a variety hits format, since WSHE was originally AOR.

The format holes I see in ATL are variety hits (Jack, etc.), 70s/80s oldies, and soft AC. The Peach moniker and calls would be a good choice for the latter but not the other two.

Speaking of Jack, how is 103.7 Chuck FM doing for Cox?

If there is a new format, whatever it is, they have to fill the 70s and even 80s void...yes, 97.1 plays those eras, but has a very tight playlist of just certain rock tracks. B-98.5 has even cut back on the 80s.

I want somebody to kick Cox in the ass, the River and B98.5 are total jokes.....................

Isn't 96.1 doing well in a couple of money demos? Then again are not most of 96.1's listerners out side 285? Project might work better on 105.3
I think you meant Project wouldn't work better on 105.3, due to a lot of OTP listeners.

FWIW, I don't think that Project has ever consistently gotten the numbers that 96 Rock or 105.3 The Buzz did. Can someone verify this?

Project has been very strong in its target audiences of Men 18-49 and 18-34.

Well would you look at this-
CC registered more than just Project1053.com and ESPNDeportesAtlanta.com. Also registered back in April would be a re-register of Peach949.com:

Now that, is currently redirecting to 949thebull.com. Which to me, at least, hints country going to 105.7 after they move down to 96.1. This would give one market covering signal to a new music station as opposed to two flawed ones.

My editing timed out before I could add this-
Now back to 94.9, country is not safe. For a southern market- our country radio showing is terrible. I guess the ClearHeads think that there country is not good enough and it's not going anywhere. They might just admit their mistake (for once in forever) and bring back Peach. But here's the catch- air the last 7 days of Christmas music that we missed when they flipped to the Bull. That would really be awesome. But say that bull stays where it is. CC continues to struggle with that frequency and will continue to do so until they bring back Peach.

LOOKS LIKE THE PEACH IS COMING BACK!

IF it does come back, then I think they may put in Randy and Spiff to attract some listeners, and play nonstop music through labor day weekend.

I'm also predicting either classic hits or variety hits. The former is a decent sized hole, the latter is something that CC is getting big on (Boston, Charlotte, Cleveland, Miami).

Classic Hits like Majic 105.7 in Cleveland would be awesome but I can't imagine it being called Peach.

I could see a Variety Hits "Peach".

Though an AC Peach could go like this:
Randy and Spiff
Tripp West
(unknown female)
Alpha Trivette and Steve McCoy
Ray Mariner
Larry "Nighttrain" Lane

Well, I could see either Randy and Spiff for morning drive, Tripp West for Middays, Alpha Trivette for afternoons, Steve McCoy for nights, and piping in somebody from PC or going jockless for nights.

CC has renewed and held on to Peach949.com since the station went off the air. They typically don't register domains for un-announced format changes that far in advance. Mainstream AC is not really a hot format now and certainly wasn't when B-98.5 still did it in the "traditional" sense. Nothing will happen at 94.9, and Peach is not coming back as AC.

Well, it still could come back as classic hits or variety hits. I'm trying to remain hopeful.

To CarolinaRadio- what do you mean it's not a hot format right now? Have you spent a day in New York, LA, Seattle, Detroit and so on? A lot of other markets too. WLNK is my favorite.

I could see Peach (the old soft AC Peach 94.9) being more successful today than they were when they were locked in a struggle with B98.5. B98.5 has moved on and cast their lot with the younger half of women 25-54 that hates 80s; Peach could go after the older half. Peach could even pick up some 70s/80s oldies or variety hits listeners if they formatted it right (that is, less soft and more old, which also sounds more PPM-friendly).

I don't see Bull going away so fast; it's been doing respectably, although not spectacular. Bull got a boost when Eagle flipped to TOC, but it does seem to be locked in a pricey, bloody fight with Kicks and all the country rimshots (including Bear, WNGC, and South 107, the latter of which will be moving in closer soon). I don't see this prospective "New Peach" going back to 94.9, at least not for starters. If CC sticks to form, they will start them on one of the 105.x "AAA minor league" frequencies and see how it does. That's what they did with Buzz/Project and seem to be doing with Wild.

Detroit? WMGC is way down there in the PPM's. Yes, "upbeat" AC's still do well in a lot of markets, like NYC and Philadelphia, but the kind of "Mainstream" AC that B-98.5 was doing until last year was not doing well and will not be back.

I wish more AC stations sounded like WLNK, as far as music.

Yeah, The Link in Charlotte isn't afraid of playing "I like It Like That" (HotChelleRae) into "It's Still Rock And Roll To Me" (Billy Joel)! Both songs I enjoy, and they are talk formatted with music in the mornings and afternoons, but sound great with high energy. Greater Media- buy 94.1 and morph it into a Link style station.

Well, before WMGC started adding new stuff, they were up to a five share still play Crowded House and The Chi-Lites. That's what they should go back to and drop the Katy Perry/"Payphone" crap.

I'm currently listening to the CC cluster. I doubt anything will happen this early, but who knows. 12 PM is a prime time for a format change. And isn't it just a little bit strange that Project is currently playing "Hats Off to the Bull" by Chevelle?

Is this sarcasm? Nothing strange about it as "Hats" is currently in the top ten of active rock airplay.

Sorry about that. But still, we're coming up to noon. I'm listening to the CC cluster right now.

Bring back 'Peach"...and Steve Goss, too! :)
