The only station of his I listen to is WXXK and I think they could do a much better job. On-air sound is very loose and compared to the Upper Valley's Wolf the on-air staff quite poor.

Well, the clients love it, and that's all that matters.
That may be true but I bet many of those same clients are spending money with Nassau as well. I understand this market is more on relationships than quality programming and ratings (I bet there has not been a book for the Upper Valley in at least a year.)
The shame of it is that when I was learning the craft of broadcasting, it was the quality of your programming which brought in the advertising dollars. Maybe if some operators would remember that they would make more with their stations.
Sounds as though WNHW has moved to Gilford, with WJYY next.

WHY would they invest in a new transmitter for WTSV? No cash flow there. Parts for the transmitter might be found on EBay! I bet they keep it dark and don't bring it back. OR transfer it to a non-profit to fix and operate. Church group? NHPR? Who would want that station other than Nassau? Is there any value there?
Church maybe... NHPR? HELL. NO.
Claremont is plenty well served with Public Radio anyway, the best signal being VPR's WVPR 89.5, offering a city-grade in to Claremont.
As for NHPR, WEVO (Concord) WEVN (Keene) and WEVH (Hanover) cover Claremont relatively well. But again, WVPR is best.

How about Dartmouth college? They would have the cash to fix it up. Don't they have an FM already? WDCR? I've been away too long to know what the college has now.
Dartmouth owns WDCR (which I think is dark) and WFRD-FM which is Rock. Vox was selling it's spots under a JSA...don't know if that's still the case. Not too many colleges have commercially licensed signals.

If they've been off the air since June & you didn't notice until October I'd guess you don't listen very often. Isn't that their stick in the swamp across from Big Lots? Judging by the looks of it, that site needs more than just a new transmitter!
Actually NHPR makes great sense. Here's why. Claremont is a gaping hole in NHPR's state coverage. It's also a community that NHPR wants to serve. The fact that they get VPR better than NH PR is an even bigger factor. They applied for a new FM there in the last filing window, though it appears that they will not win that MX group. This thread has taken many twists and turns but let's focus back on Nassau for a moment. Why have they (shapiro) not filed with the FCC? Why has the FCC not approved the transfer to Goldman? What is happening with 102.3 in Concord? Are there any other stations they are going to part with? What happened to the Portland signal they had to divest? There may be trouble in Paradise with Mr. Shapiro. I have heard he was anxious to close or at the very least LMA. Why have things cooled? What's possibly going on? Is the deal still as deal?
