movin 100.7 is on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!the first movin format in Florida

Renda Broadcasting made the move to Movin 100.7 after 1pm this afternoon. This is the first Florida station to officially make the move. Previous Kool airstaff gone, running the automated movin format. Sounds great, go Renda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was something I never saw coming...the time was 1:50 pm when the format changed occured.....was listening on the radio when it happen.....all I know it went from the Bee Gee "You Should Be Dancing" to soemthing else and when it came on that it was WMUV-FM Brunswick/Jacksonville and said it was Movin 100.7 I know that Kool was gone......It has got to hurt for Tom Murphy that within less then two years time that he has been thrown out of both oldies stations in town....I guess I am going to the Eagle for music now......no wait.....my iPod....which is filled with a lot of this good stuff. Now what is this that Renda did not let Briggs go but let the Arf and Tom Murphy go? Something is messed up to be honest here.

As for oldies ever being in Jacksonville again we will never have another station that will take the format....CC does not wanted.......Cox had the oldies but did not make business since after 15 years......Renda tries it and fails to get listners.....what the heck happened?

If Movin 100.7 is going to get listners they have to market the station right away........othewise the station will not take off......

Could CC be hurting soon? We will have to see..

Now the only other way oldies comes again.....is if CC does take 93.3 The Rooster and flips more on the lines of Classic Hits but they would have to market it and make it run like it was meant to be but that would be the long shot.

Oh Movin 100.7 being satelitte feed or is it being automated in house at Renda and will this format have DJ's on it or what? Someone please find out.

Later.

Oldies is over, finished, done, etc....Rooster may take it now that the hole has opened back up. Good luck 93.3 is a weak signal, anything over there is doomed.

Entire Kool staff gone, not surprised and no jocks until 2007. Agreed, Renda needs to market this heavily if they have a shot. 95 and 101.5 will be hurt if this is executed properly.

Lots of great local air talent need jobs, Renda makes a bold move, now can it payoff!!!! Best thing to hit Jax radio in a looooooong time.

who made you the radio-info board police? these are legitimate and informative posts with no disrepect intended to anyone inside the radio business. its clean fun, that's all.

Congrats to RENDA for trrying something different.....Its fresh and new and Hopefully for them it works......Lots of songs so far that havent been played in a looong time.........

Where is this station, is it in Brunswick Georgia? Does their signal go down to St. Augustine, I live in Middleburg and can't get it....

The tower is just north of the FL/GA line. It isn't a terrific signal in Jacksonville, although 100.7 has played to this market for many years, with varying success. You should be able to pick it up with some effort on a good radio.

like, duh re: oldies on 93.3

You have Classic Hits in Jax- WJGL and it's doing quite well, boring as it may be. Why on earth try and resurrect a format that has been nuked twice inside two years?

Nice format. Mind you this is the first Movin format on the east coas of the US. All the others are on the west part of the country. I wonder which stations in which markets are also flip to movin.

WAAAAIT a minute everyone. Within a year you'll all be eating crow. Remember this is Renda ...yep Renda ..remember them, the mom & pop operation playing against the big guns. Even if Tony Renda spends marketing money it'll never measure up to what CC and Cox has. Gator is at best very unstable ratings wise. I'm guessing there's a bit of confusion with the 991 and 999 thing. Good luck to Briggs and Bill Scull Jr. and how long is 961 going to call themselves Lite ..short for Lite-weights. Crofton is over ..like years ago ..and when is CC going to wake up and do something with 933. In 3 months we'll all see complaints posted on here about how Jacksonille radio is boring again. What goes around comes around.

Well, Renda's Gator in Fort Myers is doing quite well - No. 1 music station* 12+ the last three books...

* Relevant music stations not counting "powerhouses" WAVV and WJPT... Hey, did I just make a spinny?

Two things...

Yes, Gator is big for Renda in Ft. Myers, likewise with KOMA in Oklahoma City as an oldies staion. Just because you have one successful operation in the company doesn't mean they'll ALL be just as huge.

And, does this flip to "Movin'" mean that Renda is finally dumping that lame blues music block on Sunday morning? Honestly, would it surprise you if it shows up this Sunday morning??!! Stay tuned kids!

I've spend a few hours listening to MOVIN because someone on here said that the format is geared towards women in their 30's and 40's. It's suppose to make them feel younger. I'm pretty sure the only thing that would accomplish that is several trips to a plastic surgeon. Anyhoot, to tell you the truth, I fall within that age catagory and MOVIN didn't do anything for me; it's a lot of rap. I listen to enough of that when my teenagers are in the car... I won't add MOVIN to my dial setting. I certainly will not listen to Arthur... so it's back to QIK in the mornings and perhaps the EAGLE during my drive home.

I wonder if World Famous would be interested in heading back over to COX to head up the Morning show on the Eagle. Comments, please!

I would almost bet that Tom Murphy would like to go back to 96.9 for mornings, but Cox has a problem with re-hiring people from their past.

Someone mentioned a few posts ago that this format has been blown up twice in the last two years in Jax and that's clearly the truth. However, the first time it was blown up was due to Scott Walker cluttering the station with Charlie Van dyke sweepers (In case Scott didn't know, 96.9 dumped Van dyke 5 years earlier because he no longer "fit"), allowing little personality to the presentation, weak on-air promotions and not paying any serious attention to scheduling the music (The Beatles NEXT to Badfinger?). The ratings took a serious dive, which resulted in a format flip within a year of Walker taking over. Scott's fault? Yes, but a lot of the mindless input had to come from corporate.

The latest episode was the Briggs era at 100.7 where absolutely no attention was given to anything! It was quite obvious that Briggs didn't know the music, muchless LIKE it, and contributed NOTHING to the station. Terrible music rotations. Senseless promotions held over from the disasterous Arrow years. A morning show that kept listeners away in droves. Jockless middays. All of that contributing to one of the very weakest efforts EVER on any station, regardless of format, in a market the size of Jax. That whole episode was a disgrace!

To get back to the point. Cool 96.9 had a very high cume for many years, typically top 3 in the market. Had 100.7 launched the newer KOOL in a manner that was updated and professionally executed they could have easily captured a large share of the old Cool's audience. But, obviously, that didn't happen. And don't give me the old sob story that "Renda didn't put any money into it". Bullshit! They had all of the tools; Jingles, the music library, Selector and a transmitter. Tom Murphy should have been put in the morning, midday could have been voice-tracked (if absolutely necessary) by one of the very competent people in the building (such as AJ Davis) and PM drive could have been handled by a competent PD.

It's very unlikely that anyone will give "oldies" a try in Jax again. The format has been beaten down and bastardized by unskilled labor!

I would look for Tom Murphy to appear at Cox's Eagle in mornings and more than likely also be the PD. It may be he could bring in Arf too. When Mr Areford was on Rock 105 and had something to promote and work with he sounded great. Tom is a guy who's been beaten down and kicked in the face time and time again and still has resurfaced as one of the bright spots and most talented people in the business. My previous comments would not surprise me a bit. I don't believe for a second that the oldies format is dead in Jacksonville. renda had their head us their butt from the beginning and the music was misguided at best. The fact is that Renda has always been and always will be an also ran company. It's been proven over and over again no matter who the GM was. When Tony Renda tighens this GM's purse strings when TR gets tired of pouring money into 100.7 lets see how long Gary Spurgeon does. The only station Mr Renda cares about is 961. He's already given up on Gator.

I don't think anyone, especially me, was implying that another Oldies station should come to Jax. After COOL flipped and KOOL flopped, the format should be put out to sea. Having said that, now there are many local radio personalities that have lived in Jacksonville for years. Many have raised their kids here and own homes here; they don't want to move to another city and they shouldn't have to. Jacksonville should be proud of their local talent and should keep them working. It would be great if COX or CC gave these folks a call and asked them to join their team instead of our Icons having to beg for jobs!!!! Come on Jacksonville... make us proud, make us happy and get our boys working again!
