MOViN 92.5

fumanchu said:
translation: we are having problems selling the radio station.... therefore, you get less commercials.

Got to give credit where credit is due: it's a smart move by Kaye to do that. But the underlying reason, as fumanchu pointed out, is troubling for the station.

Another thought: maybe djdan is right about the perception of Movin' from the sales angle.

Sandusky is probably thinking "Maybe we shouldn't have given up those nice, pretty KLSY calls so quickly...Now we have people like this Mamma thing and..HEY..does anybody else know who's...listening.....in.......Seattle........anybody?........

WHAT? YOU MEAN THAT MIKE WEBB'S INTERNET STATION IS GETTING BETTER RATINGS?.......

And WHO is this Mamma person anyway....."

Fact of the matter is that 92.5 IS doing better right now than in their waning days as KLSY. Their problem right now is figuring out mornings and how to maintain what they got out of the gate.

Obviously, they're doing better than Mike Webb's internet station (that's ghoulish, by the way).

Mamma, well, let's just say it's funny to see people react to that person and think who it is. He/she does a pretty good job of getting everyone's panties in a wad on this board, though. Again, credit where credit is due.

Not ghoulish at all. No more ghoulish than Skip Marrow's KBRD.

Having orgies at Jim Morrison's grave, slapping a John Lennon vocal made on a low-fi cassette deck to the remaining Beatles studio perfect vocals and putting it out as a "new" Beatles song-which he SWORE to never record with ever again? (i.e. 1995's "Free As A Bird") - Now THAT's ghoulish....as it gets....

Besides, it's a tribute station to Mike and his music collection (like Skip's KBRD.) Mike recorded and produced those voicers on his own, maybe not thinking they would ever be heard beyond the range of his little FM transmitter. But they were just too good to throw away.

I think it would be absolutely HILARIOUS if a dead person's radio station beat out his living competitors and I'm sure Mike would be laughing right along with me and the rest of us ghou...er, fans. Peace.....

(Speaking of radio from beyond earthly/regulatory bonds, Skip's KBRD will be streaming 24/7 soon, will give you all the feed link when it comes on....)

In case you missed today's BEAUTY BUSTER tip from the Ladies Room, here it is

"Red-Nose No-No's.

When you're sick and achy, the last thing you need is a red hot nose. But you can combat those runny nose blues (or reds rather) with these easy steps:

PREVENTION: When you start blowing your nose non-stop, grab for the tissue with lotion in them: such aloe-vera or vitamin-E.
SOLUTION: If your nose is already flaming red, grad some petroleum jelly and massage it into those raw areas. "

....uh, ok.

Now, hang in with me, because rather than just trash it, I'm actually going to make a point.

Why?

Why limit your available audience by excluding half the population (in this case, men)?

I would ask the same question of KISW and "the men's room"?

I get that stations want to "target" an audience to tailor it to an advertising demographic (side note- that's becomming less relevant) but "excluding" is not "targeting". If I'm in the mood to listen to old skool music like KUBE used to play then I flip on Movin, but now I gotta be a chick?

I have the same problem when I'm flipping through the cable channels and I see something I might like to watch on BET. I'm not black so even if I stop and watch it (which I usually won't) I somehow feel like it's not my party, I shouldn't be there. It's not about being prejudiced I don't think, it's about feeling unwelcome.

So, at the end of the day, is whatever "affinity" you gain (from the girls) by putting fashion tips on the Movin website, worth who you lose (ie: every straight man in town) by doing it?

Programming types, educate me.......

This is nothing new.. ever since MOViN launched the demo has been females, imaging, promotions have all been targeted at women.. did you get offended when MOViN gave away a punch of designer high heel shoes last year?

I think it's well known MOViN's demo is the "sex and the city" female, that and her gay best friend... what's the big deal.. that's whose listening.. that's who the station targets!

Would "Mamma" be a guy from a company that competes with Sandusky? :-X
