The trend to use "non-DJ" talent has worked, but generally in 12-24 stations. Many of the MOVIN stations are going for more traditional talent like Rick Dees in LA. If MOVIN is targeting KUBE's younger end and KBKS, then Monti is a good fit. Eric Powers is late thirties and hardly aimed at 12-24, KBKS is just having a rough year in ratings. The thing I don't understand, just the sales guy talking, is what is MOVIN's target. Originally they were aimed 25-44, but the airstaff is aimed 12-24. The music is even leaning younger with more current product than some of the MOVIN stations. I had it on my dial (a 30 something guy) as a secondary station, but no longer listen. It was too rap and too young for me.
My point is that maybe the station is trying to sound young, while playing some music to keep the older audience happy. Wait for four books and we will know if it works. Until then, it is just like JACK in most advertisers minds.
