Need signal reports for 87.9 pls

too dark for them to turn out. If I get bored this weekend I'll go back over there and take some... or get my ham bud to take em, he lives over there. :)

Thanks, 'Chick.
The pirates should buy time on one of our many commerical radio stations.
Or go on line. Or maybe spread their message through personal example...
(NAHHH! LETS JUST SPRAY ILLEGAL ELECTRONIC NOISE ACROSS THE COMMUNITY!)

I tell ya what, there was some chick on there preaching last night - screamin and all sorts of stuff. If she's gonna be in heaven I think I'll stay down here! That was as annoying as anything I'd ever heard before.

And TMD I wasn't alone, had my ham buddy and my other buddy - Colt.
;)

With multiple streams on HD, is there money to be made by someone who transmits a signal and leases out alternate streams to folks such as our 87.9 pirate, and other people who want to broadcast?

Good question - the stations aren't making any money with their music streams currently, but they're just trying to get more people to get HD radios. Honestly though, I'm not sure I'd trust someone with my license, if I were a broadcaster. At least not someone who's willing to break FCC rules to transmit without a license - what if they decide to have a cussing contest under my call letters?

But I guess if it makes money, who cares, right? ;)

So is that what all you hams do, is run around chasing
transmitters and being a tattletale on everyone? :-\

LOL no, only the ones interfering with other LICENSED BROADCSTERS. Why, you feeling guilty or something?
I know of 3 pirates on the air in the metroplex now that I've never reported...because they're not hurting anyone or anything.

So no, that's not all "us hams" do.

Thanks for asking ;D

It's not tattling to report on something occuring that you know is illegal.

I'd still bet it's closer to 10 watts than 500. The Saint Mark's School station in the 1970s and 80s with 10 watts on 88.5 could be heard sporadically for 20 miles or so with lots of holes

I listened to this one for the entire ride home last night from work. The audio was a bit better. It wasn't quite as distorted as before. It knocked KNTU off completely at I-35W and Berry so Radiochick nailed this one. I was trying to guess which tower it was on. I'll take another look this morning when I drive by there again on the way to work.

Just curious, how far is the antenna for this pirate, from say Town East Mall in Mesquite?

according to google maps, from W Berry St Ft Worth TX to Town East Mall is around 47 miles. Straight across I30 almost

Hmmmmm, is it possible for a 10 to 15 watt transmitter to cover that distance? Seems to me you'd need more like 25 to 50?

Hello...long time lurker here, just decided to register. The phone numbers at the end of the clip are 817-924-5612 and 817-924-5775. I just dialed (fluent Spanish speaker) but no one's picking up.
