That makes sense. I think I actually heard one guy changing the channel on his satellite radio.
This may now become a new hobby to keep me awake on the way home in the mornings. :)

Sadly, with the advent of HD and IBOC, this may become the new definition of "DXing".

Noticed tonight our little pirate friend is still broadcasting.

Guess the feds are too slow, simply don't care or are receiving money under the table from the pirate.

OK, yeah... that last one is a bit of a stretch.

Not really - remember that payoff they obviously got from Ibquity to legalize jamming.

Apparently the feds pack it up to go home sometime around 5pm. The latest email I received from him indicated he'd attempted to listen around 3pm and didn't hear them on one day and requested that I please listen closer and give him a sign on time that was more grounded.

<rant>
THEYRE PIRATES!!! THEY HAVE NO SET SIGN ON SCHEDULE!!! THEY DO WHATEVER THEY WANT!

I can't help it the majority of their broadcast isn't during FCC business hours.

*shakes head*

I don't believe they sign off to begin with. Every time I have checked, whether it's morning noon or nught, they are on the air.

That FCC guy needs to get off his arse and get this taken care of.

Cool!! OK, Robert, I'm declaring war against KEOM by signing on an all 80s station at 88.3FM that runs from 5:01PM-7:59AM daily. Want to come over and program it? Obviously, the FCC won't care, and perhaps we'll send Dr. G into earlier retirement with the extra stress. I've got some extra speaker wire I can string up to KEOM's candelabra tower. No one will even notice. ;D

Ha ha, VERY funny, Mike! ;D

Considering ya gotta take one of them slllooooooooowwwwwwwwwwww as hell engine powered tower leg open basket elevators up the tower, to install the antenna.... Somehow I think we'd get noticed by the folks driving on 635. ;)

On the other hand... If you want to do all that work yourself, at your own risk... ;D ;D :D

But ya gotta wait until it's nighttime, or else the traffic copters will turn this into a tower climber news story. ;)

Good luck, and let me know when you find a decent transmitter. :)

Let's just upgrade KTCU between those hours to 100kW off one of the big sticks, then convert them to IBOC!

IBOC hash on the FM dial is so weak, I doubt this idea would cause IBOC jamming.

Not on my university's radio station you don't! Go bother TCU or something :p

I declre war on radi0chiks college radio station. It would be pretty "Keene" if you do. All 80's some 90's and the best of today... the new 102.9 redefined and skipping on frequencies

Then again it'd be better than whats on there now. Man I can remember going in for my Sunday morning shift and trying not to fall asleep to "The Old Rugged Cross" ;)

You may be on to something there! Let's all go get our own tuneable transmitters, feed them all TORC audio, and broadcast on 87.9. ;D

Perhaps the present pirate will see this as a sign from the Almighty and shut down. ;)

We could even give our efforts an official name, such as the "F"oundation for "C"easing "C"riminals 8)

(Yeah, yeah... I have a little too much free time at the moment.)

its funny though, if these guys (pirates) had been a LICENSED station that was doing something out of tolerance or interfering with 88.1, the feds would have been all over them. Guess it takes a lot of paperwork to "cease and desist" an unlicensed station.

Ive actually picked up 87.9 up here in Mckinney. Fighting a real major battle with KNTU
I was picking it up in my house. [just put up a HUGE Wire Antenna] Seemed like it was Playing Churchy stuff. In Spanish.
