I would have said "reversal" but this is basically nitpicking on your part.

BigA proclaimed a .8 increase from Fall to Winter was a "revival" of WBEN. He said it "stood out" to him in the latest book.

I pointed out that it was not a "revival", but a typical seasonal bump---and on the low end.

Call it nitpicking if you want, but if they had gone down .8, would it be fair to say they were getting crushed? Of course not.

Going down 0.8 more would have been a confirmation of a trend. Now we see that the prior two books were likely just at the low end of the station's current range.

More revealing is that in 2008, they were 4th in 25-54, and now they are 8th or 9th. The station is aging with its listeners.

Don't you find that to be a sizable dropoff in a relatively short amount of time? It's not just the aging out, as that wouldn't happen THAT fast, but the constant mono-themed, anti-Obama-all-the-time schtick has worn on many listeners.

I know a lot of people personally who used to listen, are in the 35-54 demo, and either stopped listening completely or don't listen as much as they used to, SPECIFICALLY due to the constant hammering of the same thing over and over and over. That's what I meant earlier by "echo-chamber fatigue". The completely one-sided nature of talkradio these days is driving people away, accelerating the decline of the format.

There were several threads on this very board last year as their ratings were going down, and a lot of people, including you, took it as a negative trend.

If 45-54 listeners made up most of WBEN's 25-54 showing, then with the passage of 6 years, 60% of them have become 55+. That could be the only reason for the decline, particularly since the new 45-54's are Gen X and not Boomers and were not raised with a habit of using AM for anything.

Two new programs (for WBEN) began airing toward the end of winter. Time will tell if the spring ratings are even higher.

No wonder KB1520 is no more then...

Except there isn't constant hammering, as I've told you before. You will get that from your syndicated talk hosts. The other two locals pick any topic they want which many times has no side politically.

Don't blame the hosts that Obama does something anti-American daily. BTW I don't listen for any political reason. There are MANY shows on this station that have nothing to do with the president...and even one that leans far left.

Huh? What are you talking about?

Don't blame the hosts that Obama does something anti-American daily.

There's a brilliant and enlightened statement.

Oh I'm sure. Especially after that last gem.

There are MANY shows on this station that have nothing to do with the president...and even one that leans far left.

Is the gardening show on the weekend considered marxist by you or something? Other than that, I'm not sure which shows you think either have nothing to do with the President or are actually, lol, far left.

Even some of the weekend specialty shows like the financial guys and the cigar show are hosted by Limbaugh clones. It's pervasive throughout the station, like a syphilis infection.

Oh wait, I just realized you're the one who started the thread proclaiming Dominic Cortese a Buffalo radio "legend". LOL

Sorry for engaging you.

An awful lot of "ink" here for Persons 12+. One might think it was Persons 25-54 or 18-49.
