New Daytime Soap Opera at CBS In Development

Generations is irrelevant. Declining audiences for serialized daytime content in this century is relevant, not what happened decades ago in a troubled time slot on NBC. Generations could have been a big hit; it makes zero difference in 20-freaking-24.

I wish they would do that, cancel the Talk but keep B&B and make The Gates 30 minutes.

Noon local
1pm Young and the Restless
2pm B&B
2:30 The Gates

CBS would keep the Noon ET/11am feed for CT stations and they could air Y&R at noon local if they wanted. LMAD and TPIR would be unchanged.

That would allow for KIRO, KOTV and WDJT to actually clear B&B in pattern because they bump B&B to either after The Talk or to late night (KOTV) to air hourlong news at noon.
I think WLKY, KUTV, and KFMB have longer newscasts as well, I noticed that KFMB's CW/MNTV subchannel stop making the 8am hour (there's no time and temperature in the 7am hour even as Nexstar now holds a near monopoly in the 7-10am and 10pm newscast slots). TBH I think KIRO, KUTV and KFMB adjust their daytime slots and launch their own 9am newscast to follow like some several other CBS stations that have one.

PlutoTV and/or Paramount+ would be A BETTER place for it (To say NOTHING of the fact Generations didn't even last TWO years)
If CBS owns the show they can place it on as many (or few) platforms as they want. If on CBS it will automatically be on Paramount Plus. And maybe they will decide to air it in PlutoTV also, possibly delayed by a few weeks to give Paramount Plus an exclusive streaming window.

My thoughts is try to sandwich The Gates between Y&R and B&B.
When B&B premiered, it took the place of Capitol, which aired 2:30PM Eastern. From what I remember, Bill Bell wanted his new soap to air right after Y&R: 1:30PM Eastern.
Putting The Gates between Y&R and B&B gives Y&R spillover and earlier B&B watcher eyeballs.

Dislodging the sister show to Y&R may be more harmful than beneficial.

I think the Bold and the Beautiful is big enough to stand on it's own. The Gates needs the lead in and early watchers.
*Side note: in the mid-90s I never watched Seinfeld. My friends & I watched the Simpsons syndicated reruns. Seinfeld came on after. We saw the first few minutes. In several weeks we kept on watching Seinfeld, eventually becoming to love it.

It’s also not the 90s. Moving out of a longtime slot carries risks. Weighing those risks for a dubious potential benefit is a highly questionable move.
One thing that we don’t know (that CBS does) is how much viewing of Y&R and B&B is live and how much is delayed, either via DVR, “on demand” or Paramount Plus,

I had a feeling that The Talk was the one to get cancelled, I only watch the last few minutes from time to time since I like to watch Kelly Clarkson's talker on WWMT from time to time, same with Sherri when I watch TMZ Live on Wood TV.

Didn’t see an official date besides January 2025 but my pure uneducated guess is that this will premiere on Monday January 6th 2025.

Interesting that CBS will have 3 soaps while ABC has one and NBC technically has none since moving Days to Peacock.

CBS is the only network left with a close to traditional daytime schedule.
