New Daytime Soap Opera at CBS In Development

Its official, The Talk has been cancelled and will end in December:

I've only been a casual viewer either way, but I just knew The Talk would not last nearly as long as a mixed panel (two male/three female) show, and apparently my prediction was right.

The final cast of Beyond The Gates, including Clifton Davis has been announced, and production begins next month:

Wondering what they will run in this timeslot in January and most of February? The Talk is supposed to end in December, unless they run reruns of The Talk. Classic episodes of Y&R might be a better idea to get people acclimated to a 2 pm ET soap (again) in that timeslot.

Or a same day repeat of Y&R instead

If an hour it will likely replace The Talk at 2 ET.

If just a half hour CBS has several options.

Return 12:30 to affiliates and cancel The Talk.
1pm Y&R
2pm B&B
2:30 The Gates

Cut Y&R or The Talk to 30 minutes (The Talk would be more likely)

12:30 Y&R
1:30 B&B
2pm The Gates
2:30 The Talk

12:30 Y&R
1pm B&B
1:30 The Gates
2pm The Talk

Cancel B&B and replace it with The Gates in 2025
12:30 Y&R
1:30 The Gates
2pm The Talk

Of course now they will do something I did not even suggest.
Nope I overthought it.

With a promo like that, BTG sounds like more of a primetime show (At least it would fly there)
You can tell it's a different production company by the lighting. It's more whitewashed and not theatrical. Y&R and B&B are lit very soft and dramatic. This new one is true soap opera lit.

It can be something out of soap operas you would see in the 1970s & IT STILL WOULD NOT MATTER !!

Fact is soap operas on OTA TV aren't as popular as they were in the 70's & 80's & BTG doesn't have a following like B&B, Y&R & GH do. Streaming is the future of soap operas & it wouldn't surprise me ONE BIT if Peacock were to reboot Generations to counter it

Just wait....

CBS Sunday Morning had a segment on the show:

BTG will be streaming on Paramount + and will be the first daytime soap to premier on broadcast and streaming which means the streaming only audience will be able to watch it from the beginning.

Nobody is resurrecting Generations. Ever.

I wouldn't say that. Generations was THE ORIGINAL show to feature a predominantly minority cast & had something of a following. It's only problem is it was ahead of its time

BTG is behind the 8 ball in the sense that it doesn't have such a following & is only the original amongst the younger generation. But those of us who were alive (And still be in that all important demo you experts love to talk about) when Generations debuted on NBC back in gthe mid 1980s, iBTG is not the original

This is why I believe Peacock at some point will reboot Generations (If you don't think they won't be eyeing what CBS/Paramount+ do with BTG & the success they have, you are fooling yourself)
