New Midday show on 105.3 The Fan

I understood it meant all games Monday - Friday. I just don't think they are going to be overly concerned about not having a regular show on after 7 p.m. during the week.

I am certain they mean Weekday, not Daytime.

Just to clarify for the lesser or non baseball fan out there, Rangers daytime weekday games in recent seasons typically have been Thursday, and known inside baseball as "get away games," because they are scheduled on the last game of a homestand, when the team has a road game the next day, (usually Th/F). This allows the team to "get away" from their ballpark and into thier hotel without disrupting their normal routine. Such issues can be major politics behind the scenes.

The Cubs are a great example of a team with a great weekday baseball experience. The Rangers are an example of the worst, with a geographicaly undesireable park, that is also not suited to its climate, which makes it nearly impossible to generate a good fan response for such games.

Looking at home games on the schedule it appears Nolan cut those games back to (2), probably to boost ticket sales, and the (2) that remain are 1 April, 1 May. And I only see two other weekday, daytime games - Opening Day, and Memorial Day (also April May). Road game times are subject to our opponents decision making.

The Rangers scheduled day get away games when Buck Showalter was the manager. He insited on it. For the players it made sense, but for the fans it was a disaster. Lets see how 105.3 handles the Rangers and the Rangers Radio Network. The Cowboys may end up on this station, but I think the Great Jerry Jones will own the rights and sell the inventory along with the signage in the new stadium. Like I have said in previous posts, teams should own their media rights. That way they can bundle everything and get more bang for the buck for their sponsors.

You are correct, Sir! It was the only way he could get the Rangers out of 2AM flights home from Seattle.

In related news, I noticed that we somehow managed to land our Seattle road trips as the last before the All Star Game, and the last of the season - perhaps proving there is more than one way to skin a cat.
