That will mean one less AM preset for this non-sports fan's car radio and home stereo. And I used 1090 a lot. Would at least like them to moving the KPTK format to an HD-FM channel to preseve the format, and try to stimulate HD radio conversion for another audience segment that's motivated to hear the programming. But I guess that's too much trouble when you've got a sports empire to build.
I'm really scratching my head over what's left on AM that's worth a preset that isn't already on my six buttons. Two of them on my radio are for Vancouver stations that are getting more interference from out of town and spillover of local stations. (Why should KVI show up under 690 CBU - especially when I drive near Crist'a 630 daytime tower?)
Gonna have to try the Korean station from Everett now, I guess. Such a shame that broadcasters aren't required to program for different audiences anymore. Or have an incentive toward license renewal to find a way to serve more than the fantasy "young adults" that just aren't going to be there in droves on AM, no matter what. Just crush the competition head-on while you all chase after the same few listeners, and see what's left of AM radio's credibility in a couple more years. Lots of stations are controlled by a chosen few at corporations run by folks who are on a mission to convert everyone to their particular form of fundamentalist religion/politics -- the kind that pays by the minute, maybe by the hour, for airtime. At least until the next homemade preacher comes along. Not unlike an older profession, actually. There will be little else left on AM in metro Seattle for general audiences apart from KOMO and KIXI. Grrr!
