Nope. Arbitron got it wrong with Spanish dominant undersampling and diary and age distribution in April. May returned to normal.
In May:
18-34 Recuerdo beats Preciosa by 440% in mornings and 160% in 6-Mid.
25-54 Recuerdo beats Preciosa by 80% in mornings and 30% in 6-mid.
And KESS is again, as usual, the #1 Spanish langauge station in 12+, 18-34 and 25-54 proving that April's trend (and the discreet April numbers) were an aberration.

K104 has bottomed out...The Beat drops too....Casa dropped....all the Urban and Rythmic stations are stuggling...Movin went up though.

Radioresearcher said:Hip-Hop is a fad? Get R-E-A-L. The music has been around in some form or another since 1981 - and the format full-time has been around since the original KDAY-AM/Los Angeles launched in the mid 80's. It made it's move to FM in the early 90's - so it's about 15 years old. Hip-Hop is a big part of mainstream culture. Again, fads don't last 20 years.
Is it in a down cycle right now? The product being released has been off a bit - but like any other style of music - it will be back.

Thank you for a dose of reason and rationality.
Radioresearcher said:David - how much erosion do you expect Urban and Spanish Language stations to see with PPM in markets like Dallas or L.A.?
I tend to think it will depend on how much TSL the station relies on.

Based on Houston, which I am not supposed to comment.... there is actually growth in Spanish language shares.
Radioresearcher said:I guess we won't be able to hear much on the topic until it goes currency. Philly is a bad test market for Hispanic - so all we've really seen is growth of rock and AC and decline of Urban.
