Nicole Sandler

Hi...Im David and I have to have the last word....always.....because....im right....always. :p

I notice that no one has mentioned that Nicole has been filling in all week for Rachel Maddow and Ron Reagan on Air America. It's been a week of guest hosts as the regular hosts are all on the Air America cruise!

A memory for David. Do you remember when WIOD was known as WKCR, and it was owned by the same co that owned WAKR in Akron? They tried the same format but it couldn't compete with WQAM and WFUN, which were the big stations back in the early 60's. I also remember in the early 70's WINZ having a top 40 format.

WCKR was bought in 1956 and changed to these calls from WIOD. The ownership, per Broadcasting, was intertwined between Cox and Knight (Miami News). Cox owned stations in Dayton and elswhere, and Knight owned WAKR.

From '64 to '70 I was in Miami about every month to two months, and WCKR was more in the WGBS arena. They could not quite decide if they were going to be MOR or pop, so they were neither.
