Nightmare on Oxford St.

This is Providence. Potential audiences are not growing. Any growth in population in this market is not English-speaking. Stations have reached their limit when it comes to audiences. Now it's a matter of moving them from one station in a cluster to another in the same cluster. The suits know after all the complaints die down people will keep listening anyway. Where else will they go? HJY will lose some to B101 but HJY listeners aren't about to go to WAAF or WBCN. It does not happen. Younger listeners don't care as much about radio anyway. They can get their music online and have their iPods. Listeners aren't going anywhere. They'll accept what stations give them like it or not. The only two stations going head to head with essentially the same format are Lite Rock 105 and Coast. Coast will always lose but they'll lose with less overhead now.

Sad to see Maria at HJJ get fired. Everyone in the business liked her.
The one person who should be fired that hasn't , is the one doing the firings.
JIM CORWIN.
Jim CORWIN brought in Air America.
JIM CORWIN picked HOWIE BARTE.
JIM CORWIN let ARLENE VIOLET run WHJJ into the ground.
Oh yes, and JIM CORWIN had that phoney contest 2 years ago to find the next
great talk show host.
JIM CORWIN, he should be fired.

Good ol' government employment... former USPS, current MBTA..17 years..6 more and I RETIRE! A different concept of "being on the beach" out the door at 54!

The way Chief Enginners were treated during de regulation... many contracted out.

Now with one company owning multiple stations in 1 market whatever tech guy is on staff is now doing way more work than he/she was when they had one AM and one FM. Now there are 4 different transmitter sites, plus all the computer stuff that got dumped in thier lap, ISDN, STL's etc.

One of the first cuts CC made in Boston was the asst. CE

FYI...upper management. Again, I must reiterate that the above member "ryanbadrapper" is not the same Ryan that works for Jim Corwin and/or a certain rock station here in the market. In fact, I have never tried to rap but there's a good chance that I'd be good at it, albeit I'd look pretty foolish doing it... so I won't try. Stop trying to take my beer money away Mr. Badrapper!!
