Not so SUNNY

Keep 105.1 the way it is now???? You mean lame and boring. Sorry, but the best thing to ever hit the 105.1 frequency was and still will always be BJ 105. XL sounds very "safe and vanilla". Orlando needs a new spark, a new dynamite CHR, new attitude. Too much of the same garbage all over the dial...........

Friday night 80's reminds me of BJ-105...and a time when Top 40 was listenable...

I think that the 105.1 Fm frequency is a reminder of a GREAT radio station. Changing it to a top 40 format of our present time would be an insult to anybody that ever worked there....

The thought of hearing crap like Britney Spears and Eminem on 105.1 FM makes me cringe....

Well I DID work there. I worked at BJ 105 back in the late 80's then hung around when Nationwide, in all of their infinite wisdom, flipped it to Mix 105.1. There are many of us 40-50 year olds that probably wouldn't mind it if 105.1 resurrected as a better CHR than what we have today.

btw....Brittany doesn't have anything on the charts neither does Eminem. There's plenty of good CHR product out there, just need the right imaging, jingle package, and upbeat, fresh sound.

Can't hurt to dream.............. ::)

Just as long as they don't play "Barbie Girl" songs 'til they're beaten to the ground! Dear God!!! There ARE some good songs meant for a CHR that would make a station great... can't think of any right now, but I know some Matchbox 20 and Nickelback would be a couple of groups that would work.

Basically the only good CHR songs that are around now are the current hits on any Hot AC.

Hey Vadar, WHEN exactly did you work at BJ-105!!!!

I personally thought that BJ-105 sounded FANTASTIC in the summer of '89 right before it became Mix 105.1...Matter of fact, I remember the very last song that I heard on BJ-105 before the change, and that was "Sowing The Seeds Of Love", from Tears For Fears..

I always loved AT40 with Shadoe Stevens on Sunday nights on BJ-105. Nobody EVER brings up Shadoe. Everybody thinks that Casey Kasem just handed over the reigns to that Dick Clark wannabe...

DIZ, very true. Of course, the fact is that the term "CHR" was like "Coca-Cola" or "Pepsi" back in the day. Even a better example would be just coffee. NOW, Coke, Pepsi, and coffee come in so many flavors, who knows WHICH is the most popular? Same applies to the term "CHR" now. There's "Urban CHR," "Alternative CHR" (not really the correct term, just go with me on that one), and then your bubble gum CHR "I'm a Barbie Girl, in a Barbie World".

For THIS market, it can go either way between "Urban CHR" or the rock side of CHR... as long as it's done intelligently.

Now, THAT'S a name that I haven't heard in a LONG time! Last time I heard that name was back in the 80's/90's of PLJ and Z100 in New York! That WOULD be awesome to have long-time radio veteran SS back on the airwaves!

Hmmm.... I doubt most young people would agree that "the only good CHR songs are on the AC stations"

All the talk on a good CHR kind of hits my point ... weren't we all hoping for something exciting out of 105.9 --- to me they missed the mark. It's not the station I want to wake up to, drive to/from work to, listen to while shaving ... ocassionally I'll dial back in if everyone else simultaneously goes into commercial sets.

I'm all for bringing back mad, creative jingles, boss jocks (that might even occassionally yell), whacky dedications, bizzar stunts ... anything with some excitement.

And as for Shadoe Stevens, we're talking about the Hollywood original that was on Dave's World, Hollywood Squares, etc. and not our local knockoff from XL/K92?

Buddy boy, those were the best years of my life, 1986-1993 at BJ and Mix. Went from young hotties to hot MILFS when we flipped the switch. Married a listener...........
