Pete Sheppard - Out at WEEI

Ok, here's a thought. Why hasn't Pete appeared on CSN's Sports Tonight lately?? Shep appeared on the show in the past. The show is sort of a cesspool for radio talent and non-talent (as in Gresh, Meter, Stearns, Merloni, Shaughnessy, etc). He's had more to offer than that crew.

Could he be personna non grata in the Boston media?? Was it something he said to management??

There's no mystery(with Sheppard). Like Lobel , Serandis, Stearns, Leveille, Price, if you are around awhile and making some money corporate is going to want to dump you.

Except Sheppard was far more popular and likely made much less then those you cited. When Lobel and Stearns were released from their contracts there wasn't anywhere near the outcry that's happened by Pete being cut loose.
This thread has over 3,700 views and over at bostonsportsmediawatch.com the site owner said that the day Pete was cut his site drew more web traffic then at any other time in it's history, all because (to roughly quote him as he said this tongue in cheek) "a sports flash guy got let go".
As has been mentioned over and over, if WEEI was cutting salary purely on dollars there were plenty of other choices.

I think it depends on what circles you run in.

Hate to see anyone out of work, but the cutting of Pete Sheppard won't hurt the show. Kind of like the Larry Izzo of EEI. Nice to have around, but didn't change any games.

Pete called into 96.9 to talk with Michael Graham today about the post Tiger press conference. Pete went all the way out on a limb to say that "Tiger is arguably the best golf player ever". I'm sure glad he hasn't lost his touch!

Did he call in as a caller out of the blue or was he a scheduled part of the show?

Then Jack Williams sure must have the goods on someone over there at WBZ. He's not 'wearing his age' any more graciously than the others were, yet he's still clinging to the raft.

Like him or not -- Jack Williams is a survivor. After
WBZ broke up his partnership with Tony Pepper
(remember him???) Jack was demoted to the early news
show. But he was a good soldier, he toughed it out,
and hung in there, without much public complaining.
(unlike some mega HACK Boston talk show hosts that come
to mind...)

Dual male anchors were always a dumb concept. So is m/f for that matter. Only one --of either gender-- is necessary. Maybe one of the reasons Jack didn't complain is his salary wasn't cut?
Jack is a pro and even does a good radio talk show. But in this biz-climate, let's just say he's been fortunate too.
