Phase 1 Fall ratings

Lots of changes in the first phase:-

SFR kicked some serious butt! DJX limping along. WVEZ looking good with a nice bump and WRKA takes a nosedive. WLRS and WTFX should be ashamed to even have a dial position!

This market seriously needs a major overhaul. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Heres what i want on the ville radio dial not alot of changes but blow up lrs into an true alternative station lets get real the calls wlrs are just very damaged goods.Research has got to show that!!!The fox even though active rock i do not care for they have some shows i do like detour on sunday night and scratch n sniff on friday night and the new indie alt show they added on sunday at midnight called undiscovered.Have djx get there mix show back on saturday nights i really liked that unless they still have it but i don't think so.Louie i wish it were a true jack station calling it jack like i liked the one in los angeles and until they blew it up jack in new york but i find louie quite boring!!!

Okay ad a liberal talk show here like ed schultz show bill press or randi rhodes just one is all i'm saying.

Okay santa see what you can do ;D

Happy Holidays guys and gals

Hotpatrick

4 things stick out:

WRKA falling, my goodness!

WRVI holding steady...they were barley getting a 1

WWSZ the Zone! WOW! They are finally getting ratings!

WLLV...I bet this station bills a lot $$$

Does any think WAKY will ever beat WRKA?

Any reason why the powers that be are trying to take WAKY head to head with WRKA? WAKY isn't even a Louisville station. I can't hear them out here in LaGrange, but I can hear RKA. So why would I bother with WAKY? I don't understand that one.

Actually WAKY is a Louisville station.. the studios are in Radcliff, but, the tower is now in Bullitt County.. it's just as much as a Louisville branded station as WRVI with a tower in Valley Station or WSFR with a tower out in Corydon...

My thoughts for 2008...

A FOX gets hunted and killed!

WLRS finally can RIP for GOOD!

WRKA is old.. oldies is dead, and so is WRKA!

Be on the look out for some major changes in 2008.. Cumulus is in town, and don't think they're going to sit in the new building they on Hurstbourne Pkwy with just WAVG and 93.7fm... they want some of the "Louey-ville" pie... As B96 says "Big Things Poppin".. stay tuned!

The problem with WAKY is their 60 db contour just barely reaches into Louisville. Whereas RVI's 60 db contour reaches well into Louisville and WSFR's reaches up into Oldham county. Now, WRKA has, for the most part, a downtown transmitter. why would WAKY, with their vastly inferior signal try to go head to head with them? Why not do something different to get people to put up with the static and hiss to listen?

I know, "different" is not in the vocab of today's broadcasters.

You have no idea what you're talking about, but let me help you. WSFR's tower isn't in Corydon. It's on the hill above Caesar's, and if you've ever been on it (I have) then you know that you can see downtown Louisville quite clearly.

WRVI's tower is also in Indiana, not Valley Station. It's on the same ridge as WSFR, about 3 miles farther south. I've never been on their new tower, but I was on both their old ones, which are very close to the new one. It's the same deal... a good view of Louisville.

WAKY's main signal is in Bullitt County all right... Lebanon Junction to be specific. I'm sure the view from their tower is breathtaking, but I'll bet you can't see Louisville from there. It's 26 miles from the WRKA and WPTI antennas, because that is the minimum distance seperation required between WAKY and both WRKA and WPTI per FCC rules. That is NOTHING like WSFR and WRVI. And that's why 103.5 will never be competetive in this market on any kind of sustained basis.

WAKY covers Louisville with a 100 watt on channel booster just southwest of the Gene Snyder Freeway and I-65. They can market that as a Louisville station all they want to (and they have for 15 years) but it's just not. It can't be.

Looks like it's beating WRVI in ratings and on the heels of WRKA!

It will be interesting to see what happens with good ole Cumulus in the next year. Louisville Radio is about to go under a major overhaul.

Mainline is currently completing a Market Research Project by Coleman Insights (the highest rated research company in america).

Cumulus has a building fit for a king (or atleast 2 AM stations and 4 FM stations).

Clear Channel is spinning signals like wheels at a San Antonio Drag race.

Cox is moving signals all over the Ohio River Valley to make their new 103.1 WRKA 50,000 watt signal something to shudder about

Need I say more?

Cox likes the older audience, it really makes their balance sheet look pretty to the investors in New York

Clear Channel likes keeping WHAS-AM, WKJK-AM, WAMZ-FM, WLUE-FM, WZKF-FM and WQMF-FM. However they cant wait to dump WKRD-AM, WTFX-FM.

Cumulus just bought WAVG-AM and moved in 93.7. But has room for 3 more FM signals and another AM

Mainline is currently managing a research project. This will be due for some changes. Their urban formats do well, and their CHR Heritage is just that, Heritage and its billing extremely well. However WXMA-FM, WLRS-FM may see some minor or major changes in the near near future.

Salem is most likely going to sell off their entire group in Louisville. They have 900 and 970 which could easily be picked up by Cox or Mainline. They also have 105.9 which could make a nice partner for someone like EMF. Then you have 94.7 who would dovetail into the studios on Hurstborne.

It will be interesting!

I really can't wait for the changes it is about time someone shakes up louisville radio!!! Sounds like there will be alot of movers and shakers for radio in the ville!!!I certainly hope the first casualty is wlrs!!!Put a fork in that dinasoar and blow it up into something listenable and by all means please please please do not keep joe worst jock i have ever heard.I can't listen to jocks that do there job badly. The product WLRS puts out is so bad i would rather here silence!!!

Louisville ky the dinasoar rock capital of the country!!!

Who are you? I bet half the junk you just posted doesn't happen.

You want to bet? Lets see here...

MAINLINE IS CONDUCTING A RESEARCH PROJECT
Mainline and Coleman Insights sign a contract to research new markets where Mainline expands between 2006 and 2010.

COX IS MOVING SIGNALS ALL OVER THE OHIO RIVER VALLEY
Cox has moved 102.9 and 103.1 in Indiana. There are other pending moves for 103.3, 102.7 and 103.5 in various communities so Cox can grow WRKA

CLEAR CHANNEL IS SELLING STATIONS IN LOUISVILLE
Like it or not, they are...so get over it. They have to sell 1 FM and 1 AM to comply with laws set by the FCC. Clear Channel can only own a maximum of 4FM properties in Louisville.

CUMULUS IS GROWING IN LOUISVILLE
They just moved in 93.7 into Sellersburg, oh I forgot they also own WAVG. However they just moved into a super sized studio compound on Hurstbourne. The building has 6 BROADCAST studios and nearly 6 PRODUCTION studios. Sales offices out the wazoo and more. Why would they need 12 studios for a rimshot AM/FM combo?

SALEM IS DIVESTING STATIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY
Salem officials have said to all the major trades that they will be divesting smaller market stations. Louisville is one of the smaller markets Salem owns.

If you want to say I dont know what im talking about, look at the facts before you come off the handle at me

I agree..If WAKY isn't a Louisville station...Why are they making noise...and WRKA is falling off the planet.....Not too bad for non Louisville station....WRKA is taking notice, you can bet on that....

If 103.1 becomes a 50,000 watt station, will Cox keep WRKA on there? Or would they put WPTI on there to compete with WAMZ?

YOU GOING TO TELL US THE ANSWER. YOUR THE ONLY ONE WITH THE ANSWERS HERE AND NO ONE ELSE IS ALLOWED TO PRESENT FACTS AND CHURN OUT IDEAS, ONLY YOU...REMEMBER? YOU OWN RADIO-INFO TOO I BET, OH PROBABLY COX, CUMULUS, CLEAR CHANNEL...WHAT DIDNT YOU BUY THOSE LAST YEAR? OR AM I CREATING A CRAZY IDEA OUT OF THIN AIR?

Oh man, could you imagine it?! AMZ is already down a couple of points. Get 50,000 watts to go up against AMZ with and Coyote will be shaking in his toupee! If Radio One had of programmed 104 properly when it was a classic country station, that would have sucked even more numbers away from AMZ.

WAMZ is vulnerable. Voice tracking & syndicated programming out the wazoo...PLEASE...WRKA...PLEASE take these bozos on with Live 24/7 Local Country.
