Post your latest DX

I think I'm receiving KJJR's DX test!

I'm hearing morse code on 880, which is highly unusual, and can't possibly be anything else!

EDIT: The morse code has now stopped as of 12:49 AM PDT.

EDIT#2: The code didn't stop. I can still hear it, but it's getting buried by a female Spanish singer.

EDIT#3: I'm hearing SSTV! Definitely KJJR!!!

New post for clarity:

I am hearing something broadcasting ABC news on 920 instead of KVIN. I think it might be KXLY from Spokane, WA (tonight is very productive! My first MT catch, and now my first from WA (though unconfirmed)!).

EDIT: Another catch from WA! KITI 1420 from Centralia, currently playing The Temptations' My Girl.

EDIT#2: Something on 1330 is playing Magic Carpet Ride. The station IDs as classic hits, but I didn't catch a name or any call letters.

Thats CJYM Rosetown, Sask. They simulcast with CFYM 1220 and refer to themselves as "classic Hits" without a frequency or calls mentioned

Interesting!

It looks like it's quite far away from the west coast, so it counts as a remarkably good catch, at least for me.

EDIT: And it's only 10kW!

This may be more fitting to 'post your latest DX'. Earlier today on my road trip, I stopped at the Big Arm unit of Flathead Lake State Park. Beautiful views of the lake and Mission Mountains, all still full of snow. I took out the ATS-909X and the Select-A-Tenna at a picnic shelter. I was able to pull out the following between 530-960 khz...all around 12:30-1PM MT

Not bad for the west side of the Rocky Mountains! I wonder what this scan would look like in Cut Bank or Shelby...apart from the fact that KSEN would be overloading my radio ;-)
Impressive! Thanks for posting!

KSEN 1150 test logged in Houston, despite strong WJBO/KSAL. Heard Morse starting 1:12 CDT, followed by sweep tones, back to Morse. Confirmed // on Fox Gulch MT SDR.

Even though not needed I stayed up until 1 am local time to try for the KSEN DX Test on 1150 last night. Frequency was dominated by WHBY, but I did managed to hear code IDs and tones at 1:10 am. Thanks to all arranging these tests.

The KSEN DX test got accidentally delayed a day when it was programmed wrong into the computer.

In Kansas last night:

KRKK 1360 Rock Springs, Wyoming with oldies on 1,000 watts nighttime power (matched with their online stream) with KBKB Fox Sports Radio in Fort Madison, IA in and out underneath it. KBKB is supposed to be at 34 watts nighttime & 1,000 watts daytime power according to radio-locator, but I don't know how accurate their info is.

April 3rd. I'm in my temporary home in Haysville, KS (southern suburb of Wichita) due to a house fire. Tropo was strong that night, picking up OKC/Tulsa which isn't all-that uncommon. Grabbed KBEZ (92.9)/KTBT (92.1)/KVOO (98.5)/KHTT (106.9) Tulsa and KJYO (102.7)/KRXO (107.7)/KMGL (104.1) /KOMA(92.5) /KREF-FM(94.7) OKC (which have been heard here before).

Listening to KBEZ (92.9), I heard pop starting to come in and much to my surprise mixing in was KNIN (92.9)/Wichita Falls (I have picked up KOSP (92.9)/Ozark, MO in west Wichita in years past, so I thought maybe this was the case again). This was the first time I've heard them OTA this far north. This one was confirmed with ID.

April 5th. Was driving from Wichita to an outlying suburb of Clearwater and for the first time picked up KEZO/92.3 Omaha as local KKGQ 92.3 Newton/Wichita was down.

Long live my Sony SDR S3HD.

So sorry about the fire, Caleb. Hopefully, you and your family can recover from this. :)
On the other hand, Wichita Falls TX is a nice catch from the Wichita KS area. Looks like 260 miles or so.
I'm curious, have you heard KVSV 105.5 in Beloit (about 140 miles away)? Very unique MOR/Standards format, but KFBZ's HD hash might cause problems even in good tropo. Both times when they showed up on E-skip from central WA, they were a fun listen. Shame they don't stream.

In my personal experience, I’ve yet to eek out KVSV during tropo in Wichita simply due to KFBZ. However, the further you get away from the market’s antenna farm just outside of the city, the more likely you will receive it. I’ve picked it up in scans about an hour or so north of Wichita in the past, albeit with a moderate to weak signal. (Once you hit Salina and points north towards Nebraska, it will come in much better. It’s a local signal that covers much of north central Kansas at 50,000 watts.)

New logging on April 19 at 1:44 a.m. CT from San Antonio: 1400 KWYN in Wynne, AR - 601 miles at 1 kW.

Heard a weak signal in/out with classic country songs by Randy Travis, Jessica Andrews, Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, and Shania Twain matching KWYN’s webstream. Was listening on my Kaito KA1103.

Also, the FM e-skip season is starting to fire up. On April 18 prior to leaving for work, I set recorders running with my Sangean PR-D15 and my SPARC SHD-T750 (w/wire dipole at 7’).

The former had Spanish-language news talk in/out on 91.1 starting at 11:16 a.m. CT with Guatemala references and “Emisoras Unidas” IDs. The reception lasted about an hour. This was TGCG in Chimaltenango, Guatemala, a relog.

The latter had a mix of Spanish-language Christian music stations on 95.3 during the same timeframe. There were no IDs other than a “Radio El Rosario.” I can’t find any matches for that, and it’s likely a pirate.

Nicely done Jim. I am hoping for a strong E-skip season this summer. Still (mostly) using the Pioneer Supertuner in my Santa Fe. Occasionally the 909X, albeit with being 6-10 miles from 10kw-100kw transmitters, often the Es is a little more attenuated here than it was in Ellensburg. That was the best location I've ever FM DXed from, in terms of open channels. Meteor showers were a piece of cake. Some Yakima FM channels were workable (i.e., 92.9, 91.1, 90.3 all had several E-skip logs between 2020-2021. Can't do that here!)

Not sure whether I will be staying in Yakima or moving on to another spot for 2024, however. It all depends on whether I will be hired at one of the numerous eastern WA, ID, and (possibly) western MT school districts that have teacher openings this spring/summer.

We always hope for a good season :)

I'll take a June 20th again. Around memorial day is the kickoff normally.

We're having a geo-storm tonight, and here's a few things I picked up on the Edinburgh IN SDR
ZNS-3, Bahamas, almost clear with ad for Bahamas Credit Union, PSA-insurance fraud. 11:20pm
WSON-860, Henderson KY, clear ID, someone playing "Dreams" underneath 11:30p
1010-WINS..all-news, clear "1010 WINS" ID, I guess local WCSI underneath 11:40pm
1070--UNID Southern preacher 11:45p

Big-time aurora here as well. Seems to be beaming towards southern California. 1300 KROP Brawley CA is back with Salem's Praise and Worship Channel, mostly alone. 1260 is just a weak KMZT Beverly Hills 1330 KWKW Los Angeles all alone with TUDN. 1180 KERN all alone. There are some intermountain West stations in, but not too many - yet some are very strong, like 1310 KLIX Twin Falls (375 mi SE).
1440 KFOO Riverside CA, loudest ever with BIN. S5+
1420 KSTN Stockton and what I think is XEXX Tijuana underneath

Even KIRO-710 is barely there...unless it's KSPN Los Angeles instead!
Coast to Coast AM on 970...not Billings. 360 watt KNWZ Coachella CA?
KHJ-930 LA with KYAK phased
Ethnic station on 1450 - either KOBO or KEST, both CA and both needed

Off to bed

@crainbebo I was bored and decided to look at some old I/Q recordings from last year. You might be curious :)

Several station ID for various Seattle Tacoma area stations here from May 29th last year.

Gofile - Free Unlimited File Sharing and Storage you can click the three dots and play in the browser.

In the screenshot several those HD sidebands are not local and they decode very well. I didn't think it was necessary to post HD audio but can if people want.

Just hoping for another nice MN/ND/SD opening this year. Still have a lot to hear from that area, especially Minneapolis, Duluth, Eau Claire WI area. It was nice to knock out a lot of western MN and SD stations on 6/10/20, and I heard more from Minnesota on 7/3/22, but I haven't had a great northern MN opening in several years.

I'd like to get MN but i think that's a double hop path for me. ND and SD are hard to come by but within single hop range.
