WOKB was originally on 1600 and for the longest time, 1680 was WTIR... basically, a high pwoered travelers information station. One of the first x banders that existed... I went to work 20 years ago for the later incarnation of WTIR on 1300

On the Cape May County, NJ SDR, I'm hearing a strong WBEN Buffalo on 930 with another news talk station in the background but not a trace of WPAT from Paterson, NJ.

That makes sense because when I was growing up and we went up to North Jersey to see relatives, my mom would like to have WPAT on the radio back when they played elevator music on the start of our drive home but it would suddenly get weak around Exit 11 on the Turnpike and was pretty much gone by Exit 9.

That's when I was allowed to put the car radio back on WABC. :D

Goes to show how directional the signal of WPAT is at night.

Your 1560 catch reminds me of the long-time pirate that we had in Ellensburg, WA on 106.3. It went on through 2021 or early 2022. It was a non-stop reading of the Bible, chapter by chapter, verse by verse, only IDed as "Logos: The Word of God". Logos is a Bible study software program. It may have been a non-stop simulcast of a CD or several CDs for Bible study. I could hear it as far as Cle Elum.

The 1560 may have been a religious station that lost programming from the satellite and piped in non-stop Bible readings to keep it on the air.

Thanks crainbebo, I’ll keep checking.

sometimes I get the 2nd harmonic of WBBM 780 which occasionally messes with any 1560 that is in the same general direction (SE of me)…depends on the weather it seems.

I also sometimes hear the 2nd harmonic of WSCR 670 on 1340, though I don’t have much patience with the GY channels! I’m about 5 miles from the diplexed WSCR/WBBM

I’m currently on vacation in Sonoma, CA, and brought along a Qodosen DX-286. Last night at about 8:50 pm on 1230 kHz, I picked up a couple of commercials for businesses in “North County” with area code 805 phone numbers. So I’m pretty sure “North County” referred to northern San Luis Obispo county, meaning that I was listening to KPRL Paso Robles. That’s more than 230 miles away from Sonoma. It’s kind of stunning. Reception was clear with no interference, amazing on a graveyard channel.

Interesting. As it happens, I’m currently over the hill from you in Santa Rosa. I checked the radio overnight and was hearing a strong Relevant Radio on 1230. There’s one affiliate in Stockton and one up in Redding, 85 and 145 miles from here, respectively.

"Logos" is also "(the) word" in Greek.

As "In Greek, "In the beginning was the Word" from John 1:1 is "Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἦν ὁ Λόγος" (En archē ēn ho Logos). The full verse translates to "Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἦν ὁ Λόγος, καὶ ὁ Λόγος ἦν πρὸς τὸν Θεόν, καὶ Θεὸς ἦν ὁ Λόγος," which means "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and God was the Word"

Finally the years of Greek in High School has some use.
