There was a record store in Mecosta County that I used to park in front of to hear WTRX instead of WHBL on 1330, which was strong across Lake Michigan. It was on the East side of the building, which was just one story.

True about drive-thru noise. This WOAI-specific case was best from the order speaker to the edge of the building, a perfect blocker. Next to the building, not so much because of noise.

Not sure, but as an alternative, I'm on the Normal, IL receiver now, and it's quite sensitive. Even a hint of WSM (best on upper sideband) there. Uses a 130-foot dipole.

Another correction. Meant to say CHIN instead of CINA. Sorry....it's been one of those weeks for me. And it's only Tiesday! LOL

Ok, I never heard ESPN 1430 in my life, but no one said anything

I know my location is bad at DXing, Also doesn't help at all I don't have my DX Radios with me

I'm using only Pocket Radio's

Thats Fresno.... KYNO mvoed to 940 and espn moved over to 1430
 
Pulled in WHAS here in Canyon Lake, TX with a very clear signal at 6:30AM CDT. Around that same time WSB and WSM also had very good signals. I’m curious, because while it was still dark here, it had to be daylight in Louisville, Atlanta and Nashville. I’m assuming it is still skywave, even though origination stations have reached sunrise.

KSTP boomed into my area well past sunrise (they were CDT, I'm MDT) the other day, so sometimes you get lucky! This is generally the D layer being slow in developing
 
First time on the Normal, Illinois SDR tonight, and it didn't disappoint.

Normal is in the geographic center of Illinois, twin city to Bloomington, IL and roughly midway between Chicago and St. Louis. Also home to Illinois State University. Anyway, a few interesting catches for me around 9pm CDT. Including.....

1000: XEOY on top of WMVP
1130: CKWX News about Canadian politics, "News 1130", and matched to stream. Mostly under WBBR, but rose to the top once.
1490: WMRN, Marion, OH. On top for about 5 minutes. Positive ID. I thought it might be WZOE or KBUR until the ID and local ads came through. Signal was quite good while it lasted. .....But wait, there's more. I'm on 1490 still as I type this, and along comes WCOR from Lebanon, TN. Not quite as strong as WMRN, but on top with country music and local ad. Wow!

Nice receiver. I'll be back for more.

That's the magic of critical hours. Some days the opening lasts a long time. I've driven to the Masters in Augusta and parked in daylight with WLS booming on the radio of the rental car.
 
From south Overland Park, Kansas:

Two new logs on my car radio:

Last night at 7:40pm, first time log on 1030 kHz of KTWO in Casper, Wyoming. Not strong but clear enough to hear an ID and a local car dealership spot.

This morning at 7:00am on 1070 kHz, a first time log of KNTH, Houston, Texas, likely on their 10 kW 11-tower day pattern [yes, 11 towers]. Clear, top of the hour ID.

Congrats on KTWO, you should be right in their null! LOL, who knew you needed 11 towers to protect KOPY?
