Nothing to report as the local SDR is still down AND the Methow Valley receiver is now broken. S9+20DB noise from 530-650, few to no signals from 650 to 1400, and only 1400-1700 khz have usable AM signals to listen to. Something is wrong with their antenna or the SDR is dying. I should report this to the site op if there is a way to.
I guess out to the freezing cold of my heavily-trafficked apartment I should go...find a spot where the looky-loos and students don't always congregate. Maybe out to the nearby dog park on the other side of the street. I still have 1240 about 1/2 mile away from me and I can see the tower. Ugh. But at least it's 1000 watts and not 50,000. I used to live near 880 KIXI for a while, it sucked, lots of images up + down the band.

Ah lucky you.. like i said earlier, i have looky-loos too, but they all mostly know what im doing now and smile/wave as they pass me
 
From south Overland Park, Kansas:

One new critical hours log this morning on 1540 kHz at 7:45am CDT - WSMI, a 1 kW non-directional daytimer in Litchfield, Illinois. No sign of KXEL.

The most recent new AM log in the house in the southwest suburbs of Chicago is WGNZ 1110 Fairborn (Dayton), Ohio, Wednesday morning at 6:54 a.m., before WXES (ex-WMBI) signed on. Clear ID at 7 a.m. with southern gospel music format.

The plan was to get a minor car repair the following morning, but so much was found on the old chariot, it was traded in for a new race car. The old car had a good AM radio at the start, until a wire came loose, and I lived with a rolling crystal set for about 150,000 miles. The new car has an excellent AM radio (and FM as well, it appears from how far from the Loop the HD2 signals lock, though it's early days). My test is being able to get WLW 700 in my driveway in daytime, and its passed easily. Driving a bit during critical hours brought in WJR 760, WTAM 1100, and a hint of KMOX 1120. A test last night noted good adjacent-channel selectivity. WOR and WABC were breezes, WCBS decent, WFAN not so much. But this could be a rolling DX machine.
 
I think I have a clue as to why Methow Valley is down on AM. Whoever is the site op is now using a 40db broadcast band attenuation filter to enhance reception on *shortwave*. Everything below 1550 or so is dead as a doornail. Even nearby stations. Isn't that nice...so there goes another Friday night of HSFB hunting.

My old Yaesu 757 ham transceiver had the same issue....everything below 1500 was attenuated.

There are some SDR'S that favor shortwave, others mediumwave, including a personal favorite of mine in Indiana. Hopefully your local SDR will come back online soon.

Also, on 1560 I heard KLTI in Macon, MO. It is officially 1 KW in the day and 41 watts at night. But it came in with only moderate fading for at least 30 minutes, so my guess is that it was at 1 KW.

Nice catch! I've heard CHAB at my location a couple of times I've actually been to Moose Jaw (stopped for lunch once), and can tell you that CHAB, out there in the middle of the prairies, has a massive daytime signal.
 
Solid English on the Methow Valley SDR when tuned to 1570, likely KBCV Hollister. Getting a really good signal from KXEL 1540 running Brother Stair, and I think WCKY is creeping under KFBK on 1530.
Same issues apply as last week. No reception below 1500 khz on anything. There is no way to contact the SDR operator...he must be trying to target the remaining SWLs and ham operators by keeping shortwave open and not AM.

If I come out with only one new log this whole SEASON due to these issues...at least it was Florida!!

I found a new SDR near Asheville NC where the medium wave band is muted.
 
Did a quick check of the Bjargtangar (Westfjords) Iceland SDR last night around 11pm CDT (0500 UTC) and conditions were a bit different than I've seen in the last week or two. Nothing from the east coast (NYC etc), but western Canada was there, with good signals from CHRB 1140 and CKMX 1060. Most interesting and different log was on 1380, where a fadey but strong at peaks station with religious talk and music in Portuguese was heard. I determined it was //webstream of Radio Deus e Amor in Recife, Brazil. There's another Deus e Amor station listed on 1380 but is 1,000 miles further south and well inland. Recife is on the coast, so I assume I heard them but didn't hear an actual ID. I checked the listed parallels on 960 and 1080 to no avail. At any rate, nice to hear South America.

Back on October 12th, it was relatively foggy around 6:30 in the evening, and so I managed to grab 99.7 KOGA at 181 miles, 98.3 KATR with RDS at 99 miles, and some hints of 106.5 KMCX (162 miles). Something I noticed on the AM Band is that KGAB used to have rock solid control over the frequency in the summer, but now that it's fall, I've noticed WSM creeping up on it quite easily if I just turn the antenna. And I'm well within KGAB's local contour at night.
 
Great news, as the local Kittitas SDR has returned to the air. Methow Valley is also back on its normal antenna without the 40db attenuator. Tonight I was able to hear KAJO 1270 Grants Pass OR (not new), but as I recall this is the first time I've heard them on 48 watt night power! 'La Isla Bonita' Madonna // stream, and mixed with KVMI Tulare. No sign of Reno (which is now Classic Rock). Also hearing 1210 KRPU Rocklin CA with 500 watts of Punjabi tonight.
 
Blah sunrise conditions, very little Asian activity, and most activity towards the south, but I did receive this one new log just now:

540 - KRXA CA, Carmel Valley; with religious promos in English and not the Spanish as I thought, at 0658-0700 PT 10/15. Also heard singing ID 'The Sower,' matching their slogan. Mixed with CBK and likely XESURF. NEW #807, likely still on 500-watt night power, at 715 miles. Well-wanted, now in the log! Got a little bit recorded too. Gotta love finally having my local SDR back, first new log since WBOB on 9/3.

1270 in Reno is the regular here at night in central Alaska, its about all I hear on 1270..... ive had KVMI once or twice, very weak. The Reno1270 can be quite strong at times. here.
 
No, I'm looking for stations carrying High School Football that I haven't heard yet. Lots of Intermountain West graveyarders that I haven't heard yet. But if the conditions remain southerly, that won't happen...
