The best daytime DX (not pre-sunset or post sunrise) I ever got was 1035 AM 4VEH from Cap Haitien, Haiti around noon with about 90% or better readability. The signal was very weak and noisy, and only usable because it was on a totally unused channel in all the Western Hemisphere.Looks like that "Cannibal CME" will be coming during the midday hours tomorrow, 12/1. Be listening for rare southern DX, perhaps South America for the east coasters and deep Mexico/CA/AZ for us...
If you are a DXer, a CME is an interesting opportunity to find "new catches". For those of us who find it fun to get new stations, there is nothing wrong with advising others of the events so they can check out the bands that are affected.I really really wish people would stop championing and cheering on these big CMEs.. one day its gonna hit hard and do some damage to communications.. plus it totally wipes out AM and HF up here in alaska, rendering it utterly useless and noisy mush
I am a dxer. CMEs completely ruin AM and HF here, making the bands uselessIf you are a DXer, a CME is an interesting opportunity to find "new catches". That hard hit will come whether people want to see auroras and get DX associated with them or not. You’re obviously too far north to gain DX advantage from them.I really really wish people would stop championing and cheering on these big CMEs.. one day its gonna hit hard and do some damage to communications.. plus it totally wipes out AM and HF up here in alaska, rendering it utterly useless and noisy mush

The CMEs are the only opportunity to hear rare Mexican signals (would I ever pick up XEL-1260 Mexico City all alone if not for the one in February?), rare Arizona and rare southern CA signals that are usually blotted out by the NW and Alberta pests. But I understand that the further north you go, the worse the DX gets. New thread could be posted tonight if the AM band is 'dead'. But there have been reports of aurora seen this early AM as far as the southern California deserts!!
Coronal Mass Ejections. Not the same thing as solar flares, but related. I had to read up on them too. I found this pretty informative. What do you guys mean by CME?
KHXT was static in Zachary this morning. Idk what happened but they’re back on.A couple days ago I received Gulfport station 105.9 The Monkey (WXYK) from Zachary LA in my car. Bay St Louis station Kicker 108 (WZKX) also usually interferes with HOT 107.9 (KHXT)’s signal in the morning. Also I heard blues on 92.5 from Zachary late one night. I have no idea what the station was.

Coronal mass ejections: What are they and how do they form?
These colossal clouds of plasma can wreak havoc with power grids and satellites, but can also trigger stunning aurora displays.www.space.com
I sometimes hear another station playing Spanish/Mexican music on 940 with KYNO buried underneath. Could this be that other station?940 - XEMMM BCN, Mexicali
Really! I'm curious if I can see that here (if still active). Probably too much light pollution, but who knows?there have been reports of aurora seen this early AM as far as the southern California deserts!!
