A *thank you* to DXer Kyle Smith, for adding another newie to the log.
I flipped on the GE SR 2 at 5:57 this mornng, 3-20, new batteries (endorsed by Al Kaline himself) and went to see if that 1590 unID from 'Carolina' I heard last week was there. Sure was. National anthem (female singer), morning DJ, drawl* and all. and no ID. He gave a 6:04 time check, said it was the first day of spring, 74° later and 82 tomorrow, and mentioned something about Paul Simon.
On that response Kyle Smith posted a page back, I called WCSL in Cherryville and verified it was that same guy. I hadn't called him yet out of the half-dozen stations listed to NC and SC. A station west of Charlotte? With 5 or so other 1590s between here and there? 462 miles and 5 states away?
The morning guy and I went through the stuff I'd heard, and he 'Yup'ed' every one. 'That was me. Yup.' He said they play a lot of Solid Gold in the morning, and Country later i the way. So I got a PSL -- a verie via phone.
Second new station here at the new house; 8th on 1590.
* On drives to Florida, the wife and I have heard the most pronounced Southern drawl not in VA, GA or SC, but in NC, where I guess they they really turn on the hospitality when they spot a tourist. We got y'alled and drawled and honeychilded and sho-nuffed all the way to SC.
